So this guy has a perfectly good opportunity to uphold the very honor he cherishes by appearing for an award but declines because a few players refuse to stand for the national anthem? What a bunch of emotional bullshite.

A fair point.

Saint's response was still retarded

I think the Saints went overboard in their response but I can understand not sitting by and letting others trash your name.

He said the exact same thing that millions of other people who are against the anthem protests have been saying since Kaepernick started this crap last season. I don't think the vast majority of us would've even known about the guy declining the award had it not been for the Saints responding badly.

NFL brought this on themselves. Have not watched a single snap this year. Unfortunate too because Saints are playing well. But screw em. Buncha idiots.

What level of indoctrination does it take to make a person pass up being a hero because some people won't stand during the beloved national anthem?

You misspelled integrity.

Exactly.

What's next? The Saints putting out a memo saying, "yeah, all of you fans out there upset out the kneeling and talking about it............frick you too!!!"

Reality is. Navy Vet's response should have been more along the line of "at this time, I'm not comfortable with aligning my brand with yours" but in more eloquent terms.

Nothing really derogatory.

But shite. LOL @ the Saints

Bold strategy.

I got a text alert at 1:10 PM yesterday from WWL Radio "Veterans advocate declines award from Saints".

I got a text alert at 5:25 PM yesterday from WWL radio "Saints issue statement on veteran's refusal of award"

So the Saints' "Bad response" came 4 hours after the media was alerted the guy would not accept the award.

Why would the Cmdr just tell the Saints / People's Health, thanks but no thanks, and leave it at that? Why did he feel the need to contact the press and explain himself? Why not just let it be no deal?

You are correct. This is absolutely what he should have done.

Alas. The Saints apparently said to themselves, "Hmm, how can we frick this up and magnify the problem?!?!?!"

He wanted the attention. I was surprised to learn that he isn't a SEAL.

What a crock of shite. So kneelers who hate cops should be allowed to kneel but the person who actually served shouldn't be allowed to express why he doesn't want the fake award?

Yup.

You show up, you accept the award, you accept all the positive press your cause is going to get because of the award, and if you are angry enough, when you get him you throw the award in the trash can and move on with your life.

Instead... this guy decides to take a media junket.

It's crazy.

To add.

What that retired Navy guy should have remembered is that the people HE serves also are likely to have varied views. And, some of them probably support the kneelers. So, he should have simply politely declined and heck, he could have even said why.

But, he didn't. And, I suspect that among those he serves, there will be some unhappy with it(which is why he should have done as I said)

Then. The Saints..........well. Just

Something tells me the Saints has PR people who SHOULD know better.
