Chlorine plant fire in lake Charles last year actually played a bog part on this / lower output means higher prices

Two of three major facilities making tablets are down or went down from hurricane and a fire at one.

Biolab is being rebuilt. Will take time. They were a major local buyer. A local plant shut down some chlorine production as there was nowhere to store it and until the delivery system is unharmed upstream can't produce max rates.

These fricktard lockerdowners don't understand supply chains

I was told that this facility supports something like 80% of the pool chemicals of the country. I was also told it might be 2023 before they are back on line. I've been telling everyone to convert to saltwater pools.

The prices haven't been too bad even through places like Leslie's. It's just that it takes forever to get it in.

Liquid chlorine has been pretty readily available so I've been filling in the gaps with that when needed.

Not a bad idea. With that said I can't recommend this stuff enough:

Works FANTASTIC.

The main ingredient is copper sulfate. Water treatment plants use copper sulfate at 0.2 ppm to control algae. I follow the directions and and uses Eclipse 3 in conjunction with reduced chlorine and my copper concentration is 0.1 ppm.

The EPA threshold for copper is 1.3 ppm.

Put some bleach in it, it'll be fine.

Not even joking. Bleach and borax are all you pretty much need to maintain it.

Chlorine is not needed. You can make drinking water safe with bourbon.

copper

Never ever introduce metals to your pool on purpose. Short term you’re thinking this shite is great. Long term you’re wondering why they hell your pool looks like a mud pit from staining. Green hair ain’t my thing either with copper treated pools.

Bleach (sodium hypochlorite...generic plain stuff at grocery store), Baking Soda (sodium bicarbonate) and Stabilizer (cyrunanic acid) are the only things you need to maintain good water quality in a swimming pool and the occasional muriatic acid needed for proper pH control.
