The newly reelected House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Rules Committee Chairman James P. McGovern introduced a new code of conduct ahead of the 117th Congress that includes “sweeping” reforms and promotes diversity and inclusivity.
[…]
In addition to permanently establishing an Office of Diversity and Inclusion and other diversity measures, the proposed package would “honor all gender identities by changing pronouns and familial relationships in the House rules to be gender neutral.” Previously, Congress operated under a binary rule that “words importing one gender include the other as well.”

.@SpeakerPelosi, apparently forgetting about her prohibitions on “gendered" language: "I stand before you as a wife, a mother, a grandmother, a daughter. A daughter whose father proudly served in this Congress." pic.twitter.com/s2KzkxTNAw

Rules for thee, not for me.

I'm also awaiting the pictures, and subsequent bullshite explanation, when Pelosi also "forgets" to go through her own metal detectors to get to House floor.

So, should she have said...

quote:

"I stand before you as a wife or husband, a mother or father, a grandmother or grandfather, a daughter or son. A daughter or son whose father or mother proudly served in this Congress."

Besides everything else, this is what is so very broken in this country... Along the way, we have allowed them to establish "royalty" and pass these positions from family member to family member...

Nope...

"I stand before you as a thing, a thing that raised a person, a thing that raised a person that is currently raising a different person, a thing that was raised by an older thing that also proudly served in this Congress."

So instead of doing anything about it.. he runs to the Twitter cesspool to complain.

If that isn’t typical of the f’n republicans now nothing else is.

she could have shortened it up.

"I stand before you as a being." You can't say person because that might insult folks who identify as horses or something.

I wonder if they will eventually go after "I" and "you". They hate other pronouns.
