Why do blacks celebrate June again? What's the supposed story behind Juneteenth?

I believe it was on that date that the black lady rode in the front of the bus. They made her out to be just a "little old black lady". However, she was the secretary for the naacp. I think her name was Harriett Beecher Stowe.

Something nobody had heard of until about 5 years ago.

I've had a few of those moments myself on this forum. I suppose many of us could work on exercising a little more restraint before hitting enter.

The Union army began telling TX slaves they were free. It didn't all happen on one day, it took time. I believe it used to be referred to as "The Jubilee". It's only recently been pushed as a big deal but it's been around East TX for a long time.

Interesting factoid: The Union states of Delaware and Kentucky were the last states to abolish slavery, six months after Lee’s surrender.

I don't get it...

Blacks, in particular American Africans (because there is no part of Africa which wants their association) have the greatest single entity named for them ... the black hole.

Ironically, it is so powerful, is sucks whole solar and star systems into it, where even light can't escape. I could say it is the ultimate in fatigue... if you know what I mean.

I hear what you are saying and if anything should give them a boost in confidence it must be the black hole.
