My husband and I are conservative and have been for years. Looking through the prism of truth, not sexuality, is freeing. Being gay shouldn't cloud views of economic, security and military policy. If it does, then someone isn't able to see beyond their own nose. If you decide on your politics only because of one issue, you are an automaton. You are not thinking about results...Only power.
