Weird.

Holy shite. Dollar wise? Yeah I guess so.
Now add debt

Damn it Bug! This man has gone out of his way to educate us lowly people and rescued us from the Socialists that ran this nation into the ground from 1776-1955.
You know damn well that taking 1.5 years of salary paying for a 3 bedroom home is FAR FAR WORSE than it take 10 years of a salary for the same today!
You also know how those damn socialists that ran this nation from 1776 to 1955 wanted people working for their money and that's just HORRIBLE. Don't you understand??? They saved us... now the gov will take care of those who won;t work. Which is how it should be.
Don't worry Rog... I got your back on this man!
Shame on you BUG!!

Don't temm em that. They can't handle that both sides of any decision come with cost and consequences in some way and the best we can do is choose the ones with more pros then cons....the propaganda ensures the other side is all cons and their side is all pros

Our economy isnt based on mfg, we surpassed that decades ago.
There will always be winners and losers, and the losers are those who cannot adapt to the new economy

You must be real mad they’re building semiconductor infrastructure and a bunch of auto plants here huh? While tariffs may cause some short term volatility it will be much better for the country in the long run. And will weaken China

Cool. Add debt to your previous statement and come back and talk

This board melted down over Obama's tariffs. All it took was the Orange Juggalo to tell them differently.

Deals already in place

You would need permanent subsidies before mfg will return en masse.

Has it grown as much as it could have? If you come to school with the 2 dollars that you had yesterday and an additional 5 dollars. The bully takes 4 of those (5) dollars, your wealth has grown. Would you be happy with that? Maybe you would, I wouldn't. Weird.

It grew more than mfg jobs making rubber dog shite would have afforded.
Small business relies on imports for components to be able to compete with BigCorps.

Is your evidence that this is not false based on American total wealth? That's nonsensical at best and a very poor argument on your part.
Again, you left out 95% of the reply. Try again:
Evidence is in the trade deficit. The market is doing what the market does. And the market dictates that all things being equal, if price point is not, then those with the lower price are at an advantage.
Let's take Canada for example. They have tariffs/VAT on our goods. We announce a 25% retaliatory tariff. Trade with the US amounts to 29% of Canada's entire GDP. Trade with Canada amounts to less than 2% of American GDP. We have the advantage and Canada will absolutely acquiesce because they cannot afford this trade war. We can weather the storm much easier seeing as we have multiple trade partners around the world and we produce similar goods domestically.
So why are you against this tariff with Canada, if they have shown no will up to this point, to reduce their own tariffs on our goods?

quote:Yeah so why needlessly eliminate a tool from your toolbox?

quote:You can't say that.
Just more to tariffs than free trade.
Quantify the cost of the US losing a significant portion of its manufacturing base.

Because like most liberal ideologues it’s wrapped in what ifs or buts. This isn’t reality. You’re cheering on something that isn’t what you think it is.

So we should just be happy that we are receiving a portion of our full potential?
So you are anti-American exceptionalism because "well we have enough money"? That's a very liberal argument you are making, and anti-free market, which you claim to support.
Why can't we have equal footing in the market? Why must we become a welfare state for smaller countries?
Posted on 3/7/25 at 12:50 pm to HailHailtoMichigan!
Your hero slashed government spending. Do you know how many daily threads have been posted on this board with some example of how government cuts have impacted them negatively or how the cuts aren’t saving that much money? The reality is Americans couldn’t handle what he did in Argentina and Republicans won’t even pass a clean budget with minimal cuts

So other countries tarriffing our products made us as a country wealthier?

Hasnt been relative since we went off the gold standard.
Small business buys imported components, assembles a finished product and sells in the USA. Creates jobs and wealth.
Wealth is no longer static like you people think it is. Its no zero sum game anymore.

I'm thrilled personally. My life is good.
I dont feel for those left behind, they had the same chance to evolve as we did.
