Mueller, FBI, face crisis in public confidence

Mueller’s probe doesn't end with a bang, but with a whimper | TheHill
quote:
Sixty-three percent of polled voters believe that the FBI has been resisting providing information to Congress on the Clinton and Trump investigations. This is a remarkable finding for an agency whose new head said a few days ago that the agency was in fine shape. No, it isn’t.
Fifty-four percent say special counsel Robert Mueller has conflicts of interest that prevent him from doing an unbiased job, also according to this month’s Harvard CAPS-Harris Poll. So, given this finding, the silence from the special counsel on the subject has become downright deafening.
These are significant findings about an operation that was supposed to bring more objectivity and less partisanship to the Trump-Russia investigation. Clearly these numbers indicate that there is a crisis in public confidence in both the FBI and Mueller. What makes these findings important is that, with Trump’s approval rating at 41 percent, these results include large numbers of voters who don’t like Trump yet who now agree that these investigations have veered off course.
After this poll was conducted, we learned that rogue agent Peter Strzok and his paramour, Lisa Page, both high-ranking members of the Mueller task force, discussed during the campaign how, in case Trump won, that they were developing, along with deputy FBI director Andrew McCabe, what Strzok called an “insurance policy.” I can’t even imagine how badly these new facts will poll next month.

Nothing will come of this shite show. They keep adding layer upon layer, adding new investigators for every tangential issue that pops up.
These investigations and congressional hearings are nothing more than throwing taxpayer money into a pile and hitting it with a flamethrower

I fully expect Mueller to begin interviewing the women who claim to have been sexually harassed by Trump. Starting with the one that was naked underneath all her clothes. And the dems here an on the news to openly celebrate.

The problem is that this investigation has turned into one catch all probe to make political hay out of every single issue they find. They purposely leak information to fuel the news cycle and to start another investigation on said issue. This nonsense is nothing more than political revenge and we're all funding it. No one will go to jail, no one will be punished, and no one will be held accountable. All we'll see is more congressional hearings where politicians grandstand for 5 mins before asking the witness a question whereby the witness will give a non-answer and then they'll move on to the next grandstander.
This is all a dog and pony show to make the public think that people in DC are held to account. It's complete bullshite.

serious question here but how is this costing us millions of dollars when all these people were already government employees in one form or the other were they not?
do they get hired as a new job and separate career altogether outside the government at 20x the money normal people get?
it just seems none of these people didnt already work full time for the government so why is it costing us anything other then time?

It was clear to trumpkins from the start that the investigation was political.
It's clear to the majority of Americans now. Anyone who doesn't agree that Mueller and co are on a political witch hunt that's destroying the credibility of the FBI are fringe conspiracists.

If "Honest Bob" were truly a man of integrity as he claims, he'd disband this shite show immediately. It's quite clear that this entire investigation is fully tainted and compromised.

Say it isn't so!

Thank you. Some people just get it.

Nothing crazy for the Gov, but nothing is free. They are contracting a bunch of labor too I imagine
quote:
Russia probe cost DOJ $6.7 million in months after Mueller appointment
quote:
Of the total, only $3.2 million was spent directly by Mueller on salaries, travel, rent and equipment through September.
quote:
The other $3.5 million was spent on DOJ operations and would have been spent on its own pre-existing Russia investigations if Mueller hadn't been tapped to take over in mid-May. DOJ said it wasn’t legally required to figure out this total, and past special counsels didn’t tabulate it.

ok, got it, so only half of what they are "reporting" as the cost is actually new money they wouldnt already be spending on salaries normally
that makes more sense now for the amount of money they are said to be spending

If I ever needed a reason to demand Mueller be fired, Eric Holder provided it in his tweet yesterday:
quote:
Speaking on behalf of the vast majority of the American people, Republicans in Congress be forewarned:any attempt to remove Bob Mueller will not be tolerated. These are BS attacks on him/his staff that are blatantly political-designed to hide the real wrongdoing. Country not party

Mueller will give up his power if he concludes the investigation. Then he will be investigated.
Unfortunately, I expect this to go on a long time.
