Politics is just a way for ugly, talentless people to become famous. Hollywood for the ugly.

However, you used to have some semblance of intelligence to make it in DC. Now you just have to be the loudest in the room, post epic memes, and “own” the opposing party with lame one liners.

Just like our space laser queen.

They work very hard for the best interest of the American People. They wake up and can’t wait to help out the middle class and minorities. These people put their entire lives on the line for people like us every single minute they are breathing. They deserve every single perk, large paycheck and mansion they live in because they have earned it. Throw the kitchen sink at all of them so they can have a very nice living while helping us (the American people) - they have earned it!!!!!!!!!

We need them!!!!!!!!! We can’t function without them!!!!!!

Throw the checkbook at them!!!! They are all just terrific human beings!!!

I agree. Pay them more, outlaw lobbying, and institute term limits.

Not nearly as retarded as the morons that vote for her and her ilk. They’re grifters with a convenient market…morons.

They are paid too much.

Go back to it being a part time job and have a real productive job the rest of the year.

The D.C. mess would be best typified by Jabba the Hut that started out as a lean mean fighting machine.

You remember Rush Limbaugh's lessons well.

That's worthy of consideration. If they are well paid then more qualified people might consider the job.

And it might make them harder to buy off.
It definitely seems weird that the default here seems to be to starve them.

They seem to do very well despite the 'low considering the context' pay.

It seems that the current system puts pressure on them to have dealings to supplement their salaries.

Just got told we are staying late at the last minute (my day to pick up my daughter) on Thursday will rain out and still not get the overtime…. Sucks but it’s the way the job is.

She needs to go talk to the working class.

I actually agree with her. Or at least there aught to be a Congressional apt complex. Friends used to rent out their basement to congressmen. Other congressmen sleep in their office.... Because you can't do "congress" and another job at this point and you can't afford housing in DC and back home. A lot of good people that could be very good in DC say screw it because of the burden. Family is back home and if they come and see you . You have to get a hotel Because of the rent in DC

We really need to rethink the comcept of a full-time Congress.

Congress should be a part time job. 3-4 months a year, max. Maybe a fall session that basically deals with the annual budget (remember when they used to pass an annual budget, those were the days) and a spring session for whatever.

Right now they spend about 50 weeks a year holding hearings and doing not much else. They maybe "work" two weeks a year, tops, in which they basically pass unread legislation written by lobbying groups.

If something happens that really needs to be dealt with in the other 8 months... they can zoom, or they can fly up for a special session or something.
