He can win so OF COURSE he’s worse than Trump.
First, McCain was enemy #1 when he was up against Obama.
Then Romney was the worst ever when he really had a chance to beat Obama.
Trump used to be loved by the left and the media and the celebrities when he was a NYC billionaire, playboy and reality tv star.
But once Trump ran for POTUS as an R he became enemy #1.
And then when he actually won, defeating Hilary of all people, Trump then became the most awful human on earth - racist, sexist, xenophobic, homophobic, white supremacist, and eventually Insurrectionist.
Now, Desantis becomes enemy #1. It’s just how the left operates.

The popular Democrat talking point is that Republicans can't win another election via the EC and can't win the popular vote because of demographic changes and GOP voters dying off. That's completely false. I've spent the last 9 months going over every county (and most precincts) of every state from 2016 and 2020. Here is what I found:
-The Democrats are maxed out with the votes they can get, nation-wide.
-We, however, are not. Far from it. In 2016 and 2020 there were over 5 million voters who voted for at least 1 down-ballot Republican but didn't vote for Trump.
The majority of these people are suburban voters, particularly women, but are NOT natural allies of the Democrat coalition. Hell, they split the ticket in at least one, and in many cases the majority, of races on the ballot. These are Republican and Republican-leaning Independents who couldn't stand Trump and were turned off by his conduct and rhetoric, but they'd vote for literally any other Republican.
The Democrats know that if DeSantis gets the nomination that nearly all of these voters will flip back to the Republican side. They also know that a good portion of their own voters will be complacent and won't show up because DeSantis doesn't anger and mobilize the opposition to crawl over broken glass to vote him out the way Trump does. Finally, they're terrified because DeSantis does well (for a Republican) with African American and Hispanic voters.
You couple DeSantis carrying on Trump's strong performance with minority voters with a substantially stronger performance in the suburbs and a more complacent Democratic coalition and you have a Republican EC win AND PV win.
The Dems know this and they are TERRIFIED.

It doesn’t matter who runs for president. They will just cheat again. It’s over.

This is always going to be the play.
Each Republican candidate is going to get the “this guy really is Hitler. We thought Romney was. And then we thought Trump was. But this guy really is.”
It’s one of the fundamental flaws of the “Trump shouldn’t run again” argument.

That is an excellent, well thought out reply.
Just kidding. You just have more faith in logical analysis than I do. You expect these women to vote out of rationality and to not be easily influenced or manipulated by the full court media press that will be applied.
I’m not convinced. I think we have entered a cultural shift in what people want and expect from government, social norms and behavior, and a veil of promised safety versus individual liberty. And the role of voter fraud and harvesting, to top off.

The media actually told the country that GHWB, who as a teenager flew planes off an aircraft carrier in WW2 and was a cia director, was a wimp.

If they're that worried about him, he damn sure has my vote.

They split the ticket in at least one and often most down-ballot races, so they're not natural members of the Democratic coalition. That's why we've been able to keep at least 50 U.S. Senators, lose very few U.S. House Seats, and maintain and add Governorships and majorities in state legislatures, while Trump has gone 0/2 in the PV and 1/2 in the EC. These are the same voters who gave Bush the suburban win in 2004 and nearly gave Romney the suburban win in 2012. Hell, most of these people voted AGAINST Obama in 2008 when McCain had the disastrous Iraq War and Economy going against him.
They're there for the taking. I live in a suburb and know several of these voters. They'd all vote for DeSantis over Harris, Biden, or whoever.

Not over DeSantis. I want to win, and it'd be idiotic to take a huge risk over a guy who is a slam-dunk.
