JEEBUS!!

A child cannot be outside of her mother's sight for more than a "minute or two"?

This child is in more danger while the mom drives her home from CVS than when she is shopping in it.

This child has WAAAAYY greater oddds of dying from Food Poisoning from some tainted meal her mom serves than from sitting in that car.

But, let's ARREST mom because that 11 year old 9in a presumably locked car) might be taken by the bogey man.

silliness

If she left her out there for 30 mins or an hour, I still wouldn't care since I'm not afraid of a statistically minute event.

I requested to stay in the car when my mom and sister went shopping when I was about her age. I sat in the back and read a book with the doors locked.

Quit being so fricking afraid of the outliers.

This is really strange. At what age are we allowed to let our children be out of our sight?

I think it's something like 26 now.

People are screwing these kids up.

Seems like it. At 11 years old my daughter will be a 6th grader.

To those who think this mom deserved to be arrested: are you telling me you couldn't decide to sit in the car while your mom ran in somehwere when you were in the sixth grade?

Depends on how long she was in there.

I found out today that it's illegal to leave eleven, twelve, sometimes eighteen year olds home alone.

Yes, in Florida, your body will be biologically ready for reproduction years before you can legally be in your family home alone.

Well they can't purchase their own insurance, so how can you expect them to sit in a vehicle alone.

No it doesn't. She's 11. She is capable of unlocking the car and opening the door and old enough to make that decision if she feels she is in danger.

Well, at 18, you can sit in the car as long as you want.

At 17 though, you better not be in there for more than a minute by yourself or they'll protect and serve the crap out of your mom.

Exactly. Kid would just go into the store and say "Mom! WTF is taking so long?"

My wife would smack my daughter if she said this. Then she'd get thrown in jail anyway.

People don't think much of it, but shite like this actually psychologically hits kids.

The future generations will have no coping skills whatsoever.

Concur. It undercuts problem solving skills as well. There is no latitude anymore, not much at least. Boys exploring seems somewhat other worldly at this point. Someone might die.

My brother and I were taking row boats on the Mississippi River and camping when were eleven, twelve.

We can say it was a different time, but I was born after 1978.
