I am a Northeasterner, I support assault weapons ban, but NO, no, I will not accept a repeal of the Second Amendment.

This is another one of those polling situations where nationwide numbers are simply irrelevant.
Any repeal would be a state-by-state issue. And the GOP has more than half of the state legislatures locked up indefinitely.
ETA: OP, please explain specifically what an assault weapon is, what separates it from a normal firearm, and what policies would be encompassed in a ban of said weapons?

21% of all Americans is hardly anything to get worked up about. Considering the extremely difficult thresholds for amending the Constitution, the fact that this is in the wake of tragedy which always leads to irrational thinking, and the almost non-existent support by Republicans and Independents, this is basically confirmation that it won't occur in the foreseeable future
