It was the day that people used all of the earth's capacity to generate resources for the year. Thus, for the rest of the year we will be depleting supplies until someday there won't be any resources left. And we're all gonna die.

So, how did you celebrate on Monday?

Mostly in quiet meditation about the giant meteor or the sun supernova one day.

Being thankful that I (and everyone I know, and their grandchildren, and...) will be dead long before this is a real problem.

Do you guys remember the Atomic Clock during the Cold War? This is a rip off on that idea. The clock was always just a few minutes till midnight (Doomsday).

Oh frick oh no, hurry, where can we write a huge check to the UN?

OH WOW! WHAT A COINCIDENCE they are asking for money on the article they were mentioned! Please take my mastercard. The only way we can solve this is with giving a lot of money away to activist organizations!

How big a carbon footprint will this event have and how does that help??
Serious question, because the only one that will show up are already enviro-nutsacks.

Ah, hell, there was a peak oil poster on this board back around 2012. He might have been the same guy who said we should all buy gold before it's too late.

I'm charging 2 batteries on a boat so I can go needlessly burn some gas and create more CO2 tomorrow, because it's fun.

couldn't you say this about pretty much any event? political, religious, environmental, cause XYZ, etc.

I got to show a bunch of young children the different types of fish and aquatic insects that live in the creeks that they play in

Not really.
The difference is that in the invironutsack group, their whole shtick is to not pollute the environment by unnecessary driving, flying and consuming, etc.
