.... although, in his mind, in his pathologically egotistical narcissistic mind he will use his claimed belief system as his justification .... but he did this for three reasons.

1 - In his mind this makes him feel ethically and morally superior to others.

2 - He deeply, deeply, desired the attention. He also deeply resents Trump for winning the presidency. He also knows his political fate was sealed when he wanted witnesses called to the hearing, when he aligned with Schiff. So he decided to complete the mettre fin à ses jours .... the se suicider d'etat, et faire une vidéo de martyr, as the French like to say if you will.

3 - He honestly believes this will make him immortal. That he will go down in the annals of history along the same lines as past great statesmen, the Founding Fathers, et al. He believes his speech will be read to future generations for centuries to come.

This guy is an absolute nutcase. I never recognized it until just now but this Mitt Romney guy is nearly insane.

In the biggest votes, Rinos always show their true colors. McCain and now Romney. He is a disgrace to his party, his state and the office he holds.

It damn sure is bizarre to do it as publicly as he did.

Hell...his staff called Chris Wallace to do story on it.

Something is fricky the way this went down.

Romney is like Biden, they both have terrible political instincts. Romney is banking on a Trump collapse in the next 5 years, so that he will be able to ride in and save 2024. He just shot himself in the arse.

Trump, through Mitt's TDS, now has the dims' praising God. For a day, maybe. Then they'll toss that useless turdbag Mittens to the side.

They have no more use for you Mittens. Nice virtue signal, tho, brah.

The reality is people like Mittens, these supposed "conservatives" like McCain, Joe Walsh, etc... Is they are involved with secret financial deals (possibly people like Soros) and are essentially bought/paid for.

He's not insane

This is all vanity

He's got enough money for 10 lifetimes but he's still got a huge gap in his accomplishments - the praise of the national media.

This is nothing more than the typical super successful person who's sole motivation was to get the recognition from their father but never got it despite having the wold by the tail.

agreed

Said he hoped to hear from witnesses to contradict what was Alleged, so he could vote to acquit.

Here’s the thing, ole righteous Mitt, innocence doesn’t have to be proven. It was on the managers to provide proof that the allegation was fact...they didn’t. You put the burden on the defense team. Which is a complete contradiction to our justice system. Therefore, you are full of shite about voting on your conscious and using your religion as a shield. Your comments are like pelosi, very disingenuous

He also intentionally misrepresented the constitutional standards and Hamilton as his next line of defense behind God. The guy is a clown and pulling this LeBron James announcement style interview just proves he craves relevance.

Romney has a long history of raping, pillaging and burning. He has put thousands out of jobs, completely destroyed communities and families ... and he never flinched. He never, not once, had a Sir Larry Wildman moment.

His sudden religious convictions are completely insincere. It was all a guise.

Both were just pissed that they weren't able to win the Presidency.

And if the party somehow comes to eventually reject Trumpism, he's planted his flag.
