Missouri voter initiative campaign needs 110,000 signatures to force vote on new maps

If they can get a 110,000 signatures by December 11th an Amendment would probably be on the ballot for the midterms in November 2026 for the new Congressional district map. Even if it fails it would stop the new map from being used in the midterms. The Democrats have a good initiative signature campaign. They have been very good at getting Amendments on the ballot. Because Republicans control both houses the Democrats have used voter initiatives to help get what they want(Abortion, sports betting, minimum wage increase, Marijuana).
They have people that canvass and get the same people to sign each initiative. They usually try and get double the amount of signatures needed. They will probably try and get triple the amount of signatures needed in case the state legislature try and change the amount of signatures needed. My guess is they will get more than enough signatures by December 11th.

Even as court cases seek to throw out the new redistricting plan approved in the special session, a referendum campaign to put it before voters is gaining momentum. At the same time, campaign committees are preparing to battle over the initiative process

Richard von Glahn, a veteran of four initiative campaigns on minimum wage, is leading the effort to put the new congressional map on the ballot. If the campaign committee People NOT Politicians collects about 110,000 signatures by Dec. 11, the law revising the state’s eight congressional districts will not take effect until there is a statewide vote.

Democrats win?
Majority of the initiatives that are put on the ballot by the Democrats are passed.
In November 2026 there is an Amendment the Missouri Senate has sponsored that will make it harder to get initiatives on the ballot.
Most of the Amendments are voted on multiple times, because when they are passed the Missouri AG or Missouri Legislature take it to court. They usually win in court, because most of the judges are Republicans. The judge/s usually agrees with the state that the wording in the Amendment was misleading.

They get 60% of the vote or do you not need 60% of vote to pass amendments in Missouri ? In Florida it takes 60% of the vote to pass a amendment.
