No state income tax for those who graduate from an in state university and live here.

I can dig it. But the comments section is full of those who didn’t go to college raising hell.

Very interesting. Louisiana should follow.

That is an interesting idea. I personally like an idea that I heard floated here regarding TOPS. TOPS should be a state-backed loan that is forgiven after 5 years of living / working in Louisiana. Almost everyone I know who used TOPS for college immediately went to work in Texas.

I can dig it. Taxation is theft anyway.

All this is coming on the heels of a report that stated that 65% of Mississippi college graduates are leaving the state causing quite a “brain drain”

I’m concerned because it will eventually lead to democrats being in control.

Sounds like an interesting report.

Does it say where they are moving to? Interested if it is to blue states or other red states.

I’ll have to look into that. I haven’t heard about it. I know a lot of people I went to school with left, but I never thought of it as a potential problem.

No it shouldn't. It would erode one of the main goals of the program. You should do away with it if you are going to make it a loan program conditioned on some version of indentured servitude.

I’ll see if I can find it when I get to a computer instead of mobile.

In my inner circle of friends, two of us are in Mississippi (although I left and came back), one in Tennessee, one in Louisiana, one in Alabama, one in Georgia , one in South Carolina. These are late 90s graduates. I think the anti Mississippi attitude is even worse now.

There are a few industries that you can find a hidden jewel of a place to live here with low taxes and high income.

Why should Louisiana taxpayers pay for the education of someone who moves to Texas immediately after school?

I can see non degree plumbers and welders, etc., complaining that they contribute more to the economy than someone with a 'women's studies' degree.

I left, but I’m originally from Louisiana. I went back there for a while, then to Texas, and now I’m back in Mississippi.

I haven’t read the report, but over half of Ole Miss’ students are from out of state, and I think MSU is getting close as well. Most of the people I know just went back home, which was typically Texas, Georgia, and Tennessee in that order.
