Mississippi Folks, give me an update on where your Governor's race stands now

GOP primary runoff next week.
On top of LA Gov, I've also been casually following the Governor's race for tLandmass and I have to say that this slate of candidates leaves a lot to be desired.
You have one republican candidate in Waller who does not have the punchable face of a total cheesedick like Tate Reeves but he's promising to expand medicaid and more taxes to "improve roads" while cheesedick Reeves has the policy platform that I want in a candidate but Reeves is everything that you hate in a career politician.
Meanwhile the democrat Jim Hood looks looks like something out of a 90s disney movie being that he looks presentable and doesn't act and talk like a crazy SJW but he's still a democrat running for statewide office and that comes with strings attached for support from national organizations and it's possible he's hiding his true intentions of what he really wants to do in office.
If you're a conservative, this is not a good slate of candidates.
Goddamn. This is the most punchable face I've ever seen in my life.

Is he actually what John Bel Edwards claimed he was in 2015? Edwards promised that he would not raise taxes and does Hood have the credibility to stick to that promise?
And, He really looks like something out of a 90s Disney movie.

Waller is the easy choice and gaining serious momentum going into the runoff election.
Tate Reeves is easily the most hated politician in the state on the republican side but he was “next in line” to run even though no one likes him. All the informed voters are voting for Waller. All the low information voters are voting for Reeves. The special election hurts Reeves because he now doesn’t have the local elections to carry him in the small rural areas he won a few weeks ago.

Waller's support for medicaid expansion scares me as Edwards did that here in Louisiana back in 2016 and it's turned into a money pit that we cannot afford and is blowing up the state budget.
Can the legislature stop Governor Waller from doing that?

Except that Waller has been a Democrat his whole life until now. I can’t stand Tate, but he is fiscally conservative. Waller will expand Obamacare into Mississippi, and if you’ve heard him speak, you’ll know he’s not that bright.
Hood will govern as a Democrat, but he’s not gonna win.
Hood is bought and paid for by plaintiff attorneys and national Democrat organizations.
Mississippi, per usual, has no choices among three. However, if you are a conservative, Tate is the better choice of the three.

We have three C choices. None of them are horrible, none of them are great.
Reeves is your typical good ol' boy, looking primarily to enrich himself.
Waller is the moderate Dem turned Republican that might do the best job, but he's not conservative enough.
Jim Hood is the anti-abortion Dem that is well liked in rural Mississippi. He's going to give Reeves all he can handle.

I agree except I think Hood loses to Tate pretty badly. I’m not real sure Hood even wants to be governor...he just didn’t want to be AG anymore. It’s hard to be governor when you spend 80% of your time in Houston, MS.

yeah the lawyer that has been the Chief Justice on the state Supreme Court and a General isn’t as smart as Tate Reeves. That’s a great one.
Tate is a clown and will continue to run the state into the ground without a plan.

I held my nose and voted Reeves I like his conservatism but damn I don’t want to have to look at that face.

If you have a law degree and political will, you too can be a Supreme Court justice is Mississippi. It’s an elected position and he successfully ran for reelection a lot.
He’s a moderate Democrat that will crater Mississippi’s already shaky economy by expanding Obamacare...making Mississippi even more dependent on federal funds.
He’ll have to raise income and property taxes to support this expansion as well. The math does not add up.
Look, I don’t want to vote for Tate Reeves. However, he’s literally the only viable option.

I voted for Foster in the primary but I'll probably vote for Reeves on Tuesday. He seems like the lesser of two evils. He doesn't seem as giddy about raising taxes and expanding Medicaid. I'm not really excited about the choice, however.
ETA: A female relative of mine said she voted for the guy with cute children, meaning Reeves. She couldn't remember his name, though. I'm thinking that's the reason she voted for him. Sigh...

Our current Governor here in Louisiana is the same as well and he's rewarded his trial lawyers friends very well with legacy lawsuits against oil and gas.
And Edwards continues to take money from national organizations that are completely against his alleged pro-life stance and pro gun stance as well. Why? Because they know it's just phony lip service for political cover.
