Well it would be easier to accomplish if the people didn't wait until the point of no return in trying to rein in their government. There's enough people in NK to overthrow their government if they so desired but no, they are scared shitless of their government. The tyranny of their government started out small somewhere and morphed into what we see today. They let their own wound fester.

The guy that wrote the op-ed for the NY Times seems like a really smart guy (from the article)....

South Korea GDP per capita 25458.90 US dollars
North Korea GDP per capita 1800.00 US dollars

Basically the same people with one difference.
SK lives in a capitalist democratic society
NK lives in a dictatorship which came out of Marxism

This is how conflict works. You cannot have your cake and eat it, too. A shooting war would be a lot worse on NK civilians.

And, FTR, frick North Korea - our allies in the South of the peninsula are proving that freedom and capitalism are fantastic. Totalitarianism and "pure" communism are terrible.

You do realize they were doing the same thing when we were giving them money and appeasing them, right??

This fricking shite splash of a problem has been kicked down the road for Administration after Administration. None of them did one meaningful thing to try to fix it besides token sanctions.

There is only one way to fix the problem now. War. Plain and simple all out war. Anything else is just the same old window dressing bullshite that has been going on for decades.

So if you really want to stop the terrible actions of a socialist utopia that has reached its logical epitome, I encourage you to advocate for the total and complete annihilation of North Korea’s government. There is nothing short of this that will end the suffering.

Stopped reading here.

The only ones to blame are Kim Jong Un, his sick arse father and grandfather, and their leaders.

why don't nk citizens get together and start a revolution?

it's what crazy arse white people would do, but people hate us and want to live in our country because they're too weak to do something about their own problems.

frick them.
The more they starve to death, the less we have to kill or feed post war.
The more starved they are, the more likely disease will sweep through their armed forces, weakening their ability to fight.
The more starved they are, the harder it will be for them to replenish their army with healthy and strong young men.
The more starved they are, the better chance they will flood into China bringing diseases with them to infect Chinese military soldiers.
The more starved they are, the better the chances of the poor health and hygiene of Norks causing a medical emergency epidemic in China, weaking our greatest geopolitical threat.
We should be encouraging starvation in North Korea, not crying like weak little bitches about it. fricking pussies in America have forgot how to fight wars.

under Clinton in the 90"s we were in talks to curtail their nuke program.
We came to terms, we would send food, lift sanctions etc. and they would end their program.

KIm's father told his people that the reason the US was sending food was because he made the US do so.

Then they continued their nuke program underground.
