I've said this many times, but I don't think some of you realize how many millions of people would fall into the at-risk category.

Good thing we have millions of rooms to lock them in

The old sacrificing the young because they're afraid of death is a trope as old as time. It's the metaphor behind Rapunzel.

You can make a cogent argument that it's the root of abortion.

Ultimately that is where this is headed, IMO.

That'll change when it takes off in Mexico.

Bullsh**, most boomers would rather y'all go back to work so that our investments will go back to millions instead of million.

Sure, but that's not my point. The point is that there are still millions of people who would not be able to return to work and their normal lives, and I bet many people here would still complain about those people not returning to work.

Think of every person you know who is 65+, every diabetic, every asthmatic, every cancer patient, every person with an immune deficiency, every person with a heart ailment, etc. That's a ton of people, most of whom are in the workforce. Some people here act like they'll be happy if we just quarantine only the at-risk, but then will complain when they have to pick up the slack of the at-risk people who can't return to work.

This is NOT about protecting the elderly from some "NEW VIRUS". The elderly have died of the flu for centuries.

This is about crushing the US Constitution.

For Christ's sake people, Wake up

Is that because of the shut down or is that because Mexico is finally lifting a finger to help secure our mutual border?

Shut the frick up.

The mortality rate for anyone over 50 is higher than “just business as usuall”

This isn’t just a seasonal flu.

I'm not sure what you are trying to say.

But here is the way this is going to roll.

(1) POTUS will setup an Economic roll-out team to counter the medical one.
(2) Hot spots like NYC will cool.
(3) As hot spots cool, we will begin to return to work with emphasis on distancing and masks.
(4) Huge supplies of tests will be deployed to re-starting areas.
(5) Tests of new case contacts will be aggressively pursued.
(6) At risk demographics will be directed to continue shelter-in-place protocols
(7) By August (or before) we will have more effective therapeutics. At that point SIP restrictions will be lifted.

Picking up the slack or working overtime is preferable to not having a job.

I totally agree. We need to take this a step further. Just let the boomers die. Why jam up hospitals just for them? Their very existence is an affront to the gen X's Y's and Z's. The old farts have no right to inconvenience the younger generations. Why should the young stay at home and be bored just to save a few old farts that are going to die anyway?
