What’s their excuse now for not showing up? Not being a smartass; it’s an honest question. If everything is on the up-and-up, then the district is by far the most secure it’s ever been. Seems like you could easily get through a couple hours of ceremony when there’s a massive perimeter set up and a 20:1 ratio of military to civilians.
ETA that’s not an endorsement of the theory, just saying it seems like a red herring in terms of whether certain players could justifiably “not show up” without arousing even more suspicion.

1. That wasn't my thread and I didn't go on for hours about it
2. The number wasn't even close to what you're claiming. The number was 21 trillion, I believe.

One reason for the very large number of troop could be to overwhelm the capitol police and any police force under the DC mayor's control. I don't know how many people would be included in those two forces, but I suspect in the thousands, but not nearly the size of the NG troops there.
