It’s really being pushed to put harsh regulations in which will cripple any start up and small types. The only ones that can comply with gov regulations are major companies. They are doing it to undercut competition and then put out what they want and censor everything.

Yea none of these companies need the gov to protect them or stop them. They could do that themselves but then they wouldn’t get all the fun regulations.
Also meaningless ones since China isn’t going to abide by anything. It’s much like the pollution stuff, we are going to try to force everyone green while ignoring China and India polluting more than anyone.
People are right to be pissed at data centers that pop up near their homes. It drives up the electric bill, it noise pollutes and they are an eye sore to look at it and basically kill property value.
We have plenty of wide open spaces they could take up.

If that's true, which I'm sure they certainly wanted to maintain a layer of gatekeeper control over the technology in some form or fashion, really all it shows is that they themselves do not understand the nature of it. You can prompt tendencies out of it. You can program it to build copies of itself sans the tendencies, for Christ's sake.
The issue is that they realize that it has the capability to destroy their narrative control system and they don't like that one bit. Controlling information is the only thing that keeps them (the proverbial "they") in power. So they want to hamstring its development. Plain and simple.
frick them. I myself am currently working on building an AI swarm tool that will help directly address this bullshite. Other people should be using it for this purpose as well.
