OK, Oregon losing population makes sense but I hadn’t been seeing or hearing it as compared to Cali, NY, the northeast, etc.

No, Katrina should have been massive opportunity. A ton of money was poured into the state. Covid was worse. Every neighboring state doing the right thing and growing their populations and economies. Louisiana shut down.

Yes, Katrina did a # on La., but that is long in the past.
This state is so arse backwards, I don’t see why anyone would up and say, “oooh, La. Looks great for retirement, the humidity, mosquitoes, banana republic politics”
What’s not to like?
These politicians have been destroying our state for many decades.
That prick Huey Long sold the bulk of our oilfield revenues thru a backroom DC deal 100 years ago’ish.
The Mountain West as a whole in that region get more revenues than we do. If we had what we should have, we’d be a mini-Dubai! Could fix our own levee systems and install legit coastal erosion solutions.
But no, they/he sold us down the river.
My PawPaw always said when looking at a map of the USA and teaching me geography.
“Here’s the USA son, and right down here is the Armpit of America”
And disclaimer: I still love our state, can’t beat the people, the food and genuine fabric of our dna down here, but it’s certainly not enough that it would make me want to move here from another state.
