That doesn’t mean that it’s not too high. And you’re only providing data on federal income taxes I believe. Now do sales taxes, property taxes, death taxes, marriage taxes, gas taxes, etc.
If government used tax revenue solely to build and improve on public life, that would be one thing. It’s another thing that tax codes are purposefully convoluted and used to shape personal behavior. I think that’s as much of a reason to dislike the situation as is the percentages of taxes paid.

This sort of stupid arse thinking is exactly how the fake illusion of choice keeps you playing/cheering for Their rigged game.

No.
Rich corporations pay more money in taxes in totals not percentages of income earned. Amazon makes 35 billion and could only pay 4 or 5 percent in taxes. Middle class joe blow can make 70000 and pay 10 percent. So let's here more about these middle class tax breaks. Must be nice making so much money that a billion plus in taxes doesn't even put a dent in it.

File exempt and don’t file taxes. If enough of us do it, they can’t do shite.
I’ve often wondered what would happen if 5 million taxpayers changed their payroll tax to exempt.

That ones easy. The same thing Greece did a decade or so ago…the government would take the money directly out of citizens’ bank accounts and/or freeze them. The curtain would finally be pulled back.

Is it too much? Yea in those terms. But in terms of income share, and in terms of total taxes paid, in terms of total government spending? Nope. One shouldn't get an exemption from paying a reasonable share of the government's cost because they are "middle class". It's not an entitlement to a free pass.
Ultimately, our government is too big and spends too much. THAT is the problem. But virtually no one in the "middle class" is calmmoring for cutting (real) spending. Try campaigning on cutting SS, Medicare, and defense by 50% and see how far you get. Now campaign on a "middle class" tax cut... you'll have a far better chance.

I’d rather see them cut every department by 1% per year for X number of years until we get this monster of a government under control. Would never happen. It’s too practical. Politicians try to sell every idea as “all or nothing”.

It’s also fun when people make $200k/yr and claim to be “middle class”.
Agreed. But even at 400k, I wouldn’t call that rich. You can live a very nice lifestyle, but it isn’t rich.
