I urge you to vote. It’s a simple call to action, but one that can have far-reaching effects as Fulton County faces ongoing federal efforts to interfere with our elections process. The U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) has a bull’s eye on Fulton County, but I remain determined to defend the transparency and integrity of our elections. In January, FBI agents raided Fulton County’s election warehouse and seized ballots from the 2020 election. I fought tirelessly to have those wrongly confiscated materials returned, but this week, a federal judge denied that request. Importantly, the court acknowledged the FBI warrant affidavit was “defective,” “problematic,” and “troubling.” I strongly agree. However, I strongly disagree with the judge's denial of Fulton County's request for the FBI to return the election records it wrongly seized on January 28th. This fight is far from over. Our legal team is pursuing every available avenue to recover these election records and will continue exposing the deeply flawed affidavit and troubling timeline surrounding these federal actions. At the same time, Fulton County is confronting another challenge. Last month, the DOJ issued a grand jury subpoena seeking the names, addresses, phone numbers, and other personal information of election staff and volunteer poll workers who served during the 2020 Presidential Election. Fulton County has filed a motion to quash the subpoena. Let me be clear: Fulton County will not be intimidated. We will not hand over the personal information of election workers unless and until a judge compels us to do so. I will continue fighting to protect the privacy of our election workers and safeguard our democratic process. This unfounded subpoena is yet another example of federal overreach designed to intimidate, harass, and to discourage participation in our elections. And that’s where you, the voter, come in. By casting your ballot, you demonstrate confidence in Fulton County’s elections system. You show that you trust the machines are tested and accurate, that poll workers and managers are highly trained, and that every legally cast vote is counted. Most importantly, you stand up to those seeking to silence your voice.
