(Memo) Trump and GOP to come out against Alabama court ruling regarding IVF

... When responding to the Alabama Supreme Court ruling, it is imperative that our candidates align with the public’s overwhelming support for IVF and fertility treatments.”
This is a quote from an extraordinary Senate Republican memo Friday pleading with their side to get its response to an Alabama Supreme Court ruling right.
The red state’s highest court this week ruled that frozen embryos are people and that those who destroy them can be held liable in wrongful-death lawsuits. The ruling puts in vitro fertilization in the state in jeopardy.
Rarely do you see such such outward concern from Republicans about the ways their newfound ability to restrict abortion rights in a post-Roe v. Wade world could go very wrong.
Multiple Republicans have struggled with their response to the ruling, including Haley and Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-Ala.). Among those who hadn’t yet weighed in before the memo was sent: one Donald Trump. By Friday afternoon, though, he assured he strongly supported IVF and called for legislation to protect it.

Really don't care what anyone says about it. The ruling is correct and Alabama has no reason to be concerned about it.

Alabama doesn't but Trump does. Abortion rights are he rallying cry of the Dems.

In the California case you posted yesterday, you would be for the technician that dropped the vials of embryos to be charged with multiple counts of manslaughter?

Fine. This case has nothing to do with Trump and he wasn't involved in it in any way.

This is a stupid question. Who has been charged with manslaughter in this case?

How is that a stupid question?? If that California case happened in AL, the technician killed several kids by AL law. How is that a stupid question?
Heck, you are the one that posted the case yesterday .... You sure seemed to think it was related then.
And I was not trying to argue with you. I was curious how you think that should be handled. I was (and will) leave it at that if you answer and be polite about it.

My response remains the same. It's a stupid question. No one is being charged with murder or manslaughter and this hasn't even been suggested. They're just holding the facility responsible.

No, it's not a stupid question at all. I really don't see how you think it is. This law creates a precedence for other cases where embryos are involved.
But from your response, I gather you do not think an individual's actions can be held responsible. Thank you for your response.

If an IVF clinic accidently lets a child die, they should be charged with murder. These are children, not blastocysts. No different that a 12 year old. That's what republicans believe. Trump is just another RINO siding the murder of children.

I think what is happening in this case is appropriate: the facility is being held responsible for their negligence. If any law is passed in Alabama that would prevent the facility from being held responsible for negligence, then I would recommend people to stop participating in IVF in this state. Your embryos being destroyed due to negligence should not be something that can just happen with no recourse.
In this case, perhaps criminal charges for the man who destroyed other people's embryos would be appropriate. I don't know enough about what he specifically did or if he should have known what was kept in the fridge he opened to say for sure.

Interesting thought, since literally no one is calling for murder charges and this has never been on the table.

Rs going out of their way to interfere w something responsible for 1.5% of births that virtually NOBODY is against is just pure comedy.
They must enjoy losing elections. What an absurd unforced error.

The Alabama legislature will pass a law fixing this oversight within the next two weeks and no one will even care anymore.

Translation: I really want this to be a political football to hammer republicans and I'm gonna be really pissed if it's not.
