They run the show. Soo, it's fine to put the blame where it belongs. I prefer to blame the 56% (boomers) of the members of congress than the 6% (millenials).

And if I were to blame a generation (and I don't), the blame would go to the 70% younger than boomers (percent of voting age Americans).

Is it instructive that you blame the boomer you vote into office for all that's wrong? I mean, that's retarded.

I'd settle for not starting shitty threads barking about younger generations.

No argument from me on that account.

I really hate this shite.
There have always been generational political differences.

I remember people taking issue with their parents' politics, so that's not new. Archie Bunker and Meathead were great comedy along that line. But I don't remember it being like it is now. We have millennials and Gen-Xers bitching about the politics they literally vote for, but the bigger thing is the economic side of it. Some of it is I think young people have been fricked over, but not economically, the fricking they took was academic - they are largely economically illiterate. Which makes them susceptible to many strange beliefs.

That said, I don't think the generational thing is as pervasive as it might seem, particularly on social media. I have three adult children (oldest is 30), and each of them have a wide circle of friends/colleagues I know fairly well - and not a single one of them is twisted up about their lot in life. They're all off to impressive starts to different types of careers, busy buying homes, starting families, etc. I've never heard a single one bitch about their parents/parents' generation because they won't retire or any of the other whines you see so much on social media.

I'm in the non-whining camp, but I'm also in the sport in debate/mixing it up camp. I have zero problems with millennials or Gen-Xers ... I think they have it pretty good, but then I think my generation had it pretty good, too. Reality is "life" in general gets better and easier with improvements in technology, so nobody has any room whatsoever to bitch about anything.

Correct

Fortunately most of the boomers I know are cool and not part of the problem

But in total boomers are a problem

It's likely no one had your individual anecdote in mind here. Regardless, a transference of $68T within the private sector economy should benefit you.

Boomers are the generation which promoted drug use, pushed people to adopt communism and socialism over capitalism and presided over the largest increases in debt accumulation and deficit spending since the Great Depression (if not more). As a general group, their work at expanding the country is far eclipsed by their uncaring attitude toward kicking the can of paying for that expansion down the road.

This response means absolutely nothing.

who adopted communism?

who adopted debt accumulation

who expanded the country

what does 'expanded the country' mean?

who kicked the can on the expanded country?

WTF kind of response is this? Try something intelligent sometime if you can, hollering boys.

That sort of came with the early rockers, British invasion, Bob Dylan, etc., did it not? Ironically, those folks were part of the "silent" generation.

McCarthy was all over that. Ooops! Wait.

On that point we agree.

The "team" mentality relative to one's generation is humorous to me. The problem is the leftism that exists. It just so happens that the Boomer generation and the Millennial generation happened to be very left leaning. Because of that a lot of them really suck and really harmed this country.

Having said that obviously not all Boomers are leftists. Certainly you aren't. Focus on the actual problem.

From posts of yours I've read before, I'm surprised you made this argument. Correct me if I'm wrong, but hasn't the greatest run up of debt/deficit spending occurred over the last 10-15 years?

I still do this ^^^ to some degree, it’s a remnant from by depression era parents…lol My mama wouldn’t throw bacon grease away, went into a Folgers can on the stove, that was for cooking baw…..great pancakes are

This number of Boomers in Congress as a percentage to other generations is going to be considerably less in the next couple of election cycles.
