Sad that people still miss the point. She owes no one an apology, and neither does anybody who makes a joke, ever.

Problem is that she's part of the joke/language police, so she has to be held to her ilk's own shameful, dishonest, disgusting standard. Glad she got her medicine, but the reality is that there is no medicine.

Interesting take does that apply to everyone?

but her own comments seem pretty innocuous. Is it really the case that nobody thinks it's relevant at all that she is black and was herself adopted by white mormons?
Innocuous?
She hosted the segment. She led it. There was nothing innocuous about it.

Of course it is relevant that she is black and was herself adopted by white mormons. It means her comments, her segment, her encouragement of her guests' hateful "jokes" and quips could not possibly have occurred in a void.

The emotion in her apology appears only genuine insofar as it resembles someone in fear of losing their job. IMO there was not a scintilla of regret for her hatefilled targeting of the Romney family.

She epitomizes Stuart Stevens critique to a tee.

It is always delicious when a "Progressive" Wankerista get caught in the strictly-enforced Thought and Speech Code traps that they have so fastidiously designed and constructed to ruin the lives of people who disagree with them.

Quit being such a pussy...the jokes were lame...it was partisan hackery at worst, not hate.

Her apology seems genuine but who cares anyway.

Her voice cracking and her eyes welling over, Harris-Perry said she apologized to the Romney family “without reservation or qualification” and added, “My intention was not malicious, but I broke the ground rule that families are off-limits. For that, I am sorry.”

I watched it. I am glad she apologized and I think that she meant it. But, there is a larger issue at work here. Her political hatred for Romney caused her to violate her own principles that she obviously holds very dear. I think that she really does care about interracial families and adoption. Given time to reflect on it, she is mortified at what she did. But, in the moment, there was something stronger than her principles at work on that issue. It was her hatred and callousness toward Romney, a man that she despises only because he is a Republican and she thus deems him to be subhuman and unworthy of receiving respect for representing values that she herself holds dear.

I am glad that she was sorry, but she is missing what caused this panel to do something so callous. They hate even those who share their views on issues because they are on the other side politically and are therefore in the way of their larger agenda, which is to gain power.

The butt of the jokes an adopted infant. Maybe you should look up the word "lame".

AlaTiger has it right. The fact she even did a segment on something like this speaks to her hatred of the Romney's.

Also, she works in the media. That's the only reason she was held accountable. A left-wing Hollywood type could've tweeted about Romney's "token black grandchild" and it would've been no big deal.

The real shameis that the woman is obviouslytoo stupid to understand that her job requires a certain level of professionalbehavior. She thinks she is immune to any backlash because she's a doubleminority.

First: She is stupid

Second: She read the statement thus, it was not from her heart.

Third: She did it to save her job.

Fourth: She really needs a make over.

Bingo.

And she shouldn't apologize for making a joke about "family", she should apologize for making a racist joke. Funny pictures of the year? Why is that picture funny? Oh I get it now, rich, white, republican has an adopted black kid in his family. Hilarious!

She ran the segment, she knew what the picture was, and she thinks it's funny to mock the Romney family for adopting a black kid.

Delicious irony that there happens to be so many parallels she seemed too dense to pick up. Hell you would have thought this idiot might have figured it out in the planning stages with the producers etc.....naw she let her hatred override everything else.

She is in fact the perfect MSNBC poster child.

Yes, neither Romney nor Palin are any longer in the spotlight, but the Libs won't let them live.
