The monuments are history.
They're the way we told our story.
And now they're going away. And we will now learn our history, as they know it.
And these people have never liked us.

Its such a shame that so many people want to erase and forget what has happened in the past.
Posted on 8/13/17 at 4:29 pm to NYNolaguy1
They're not erasing it, per say, they're rewriting it.

Then i guess the only solution is to grab a tiki torch and try to save dixie because that seems to be working.

Yeah, those morons (from Ohio) are just making it worse for us.
I should also mention that Richard Spencer is from Massachusetts.

you don't get the difference between monuments and history...
I understand this history; leftists are never satisfied with one step, once this is accomplished, they go for more. One day it's gay marriage, the next, transgenders in the military and women's bathrooms.
One day it statues, the next its book burnings.
Maybe it's you that should study history!

Lexington is used to trash. It's not like they haven't burned the city before

I doubt most of the citizens of Lexington even know who Breckenridge was.
I disagree with that. Lexington is consistently ranked as one of the most educated cities in the country.

Maybe to right should make a push to remove the Lincoln Memorial because of all the racist comments he made. I wonder how well that would go over.

What a terrible point.

Now isn't the time for that no matter if you think the statues should come down or not.
The cost of removal is too great...it's a magnet for the worst of us.

Have you personally polled all of Lexington?
Have you? No.
Their elected mayor made this announcement.

And since when does a statue equate to representation?
Not sure if serious.

I for one had no idea this statue even existed. So there's goes your "representation" theory. Its really LOLzy and looks terrible for statue protestors. Its almost as if they can't think of anything else to contribute to the world, so they look for "symbolic" gestures to improve the world because either they dont want to make real constructive and practical gestures, or they don't know how.
That statue has existed through a century of the greatest progress a single nation has ever known, and NOW, in 2017 it is all of a sudden "racist".
Its sad. Its really really sad.

No, explain. Explain how that statue supposedly "represents" the people of Kentucky.
Again, I never knew this statue even existed. I know associate Kentucky with John Calipari more than I do these statues.
Either way, explain how it "represents" them. Do they feel unable to make their own decisions? Just because they make decisions do the statues cancel out their own decisions?
This is fricking madness and you're grasping at straws.

You were born, raised, and live in Lexington and didn't know this was there? Sorry your education sucked.

What's sad is a bunch of ignorant "adults" fighting and killing people over some shitty statues.

As someone who spent the first 24 years of my life in Lexington and still have a ton of friends and family there, I don't know a single person who will be outraged about this. Lexington isn't like most southern cities. Trump lost by nine percent there. They elected one of the first openly gay mayors in the US, and re-elected him in a landslide.
