then why do such incidents so rarely happen in countries that have a lot of them?

So countries in South America with strict firearms laws including registration to outright bans on civilian ownership of firearms and have far higher rates of gun-violence means what? If you imagine you are going to make a point, try being honest and educated on the topic first.

I'll be honest about the fact that countries like Brazil are quasi-failed states - including large parts of major cities that are almost outside the official state. But you knew that.

Threads centered around Western non-shitholes having their RARE instance of gun violence are stupid. And you know it.

Point is, is that there is nothing supporting that gun-control laws have any impact on criminal misuse of firearms. To assert otherwise is idiotic.

Right. Except for almost every country that has a lot less guns has a lot less gun crime. If you don't think the gun laws in Japan contribute to their near-zero rate of gun crime, then I don't know what to tell you.

Countries with plenty of guns have less crime, due to demographics and lack of gang/drug culture.

I'll just say that this point is a common, lame, ignorance-based talking point typicalof uneducated loons like you. Japan has very low crime, period, with a very homogeneous society that values conformity above individualism. Also, murder-suicides are tallied as two suicides if the murderer kills himself after the fact. Japan has a very high rate of suicides. Don't try me here child, you don't have nearly the depth of understanding I do here.

Yes, less. But not the near-zero you see.

I'm not saying that Japan would have US-levels of gun crime if they had no gun laws. I'm saying they would have more. For jeebus sake - the yakuza doesn't even use guns...BECAUSE OF THE GUN LAWS.

I'm not even arguing to change the US' gun laws to be more restrictive. I'm merely pointing out the OBVIOUS FACT that less guns in a country means less gun crime in that country than if they could have as many guns as they wanted.

Update to April story
LINK https://www.macleans.ca/news/

quote:

The withdrawal of $475,000 in cash by the man who killed 22 Nova Scotians in April matches the method the RCMP uses to send money to confidential informants and agents, sources say.

Gabriel Wortman, who is responsible for the largest mass killing in Canadian history, withdrew the money from a Brink’s depot in Dartmouth, N.S., on March 30, stashing a carryall filled with hundred-dollar bills in the trunk of his car.

According to a source close to the police investigation the money came from CIBC Intria, a subsidiary of the chartered bank that handles currency transactions.
