Fake news thrives during tragedies like this. Go check the twitter feed of the event after any tragedy and you will find opportunistic fake news sites fishing for gullible marks, trying to link the killer to a litany of stereotyped characterizations partisans have that they deep down hope is true so they can advance their partisanship on social media and forums like this. Or rationalize away the event if it doesn't fit the narrative they are subconsciously comfortable with
The really good ones might get picked up by more mainstream conspiracy sites like Info Wars.

it affects real people, too. During the vegas episode, some arkansas old man was forced to give a statement saying he was not the shooter. Some guy named chris ward was being accused of church shooting today. The dude was literally at the hospital seeing his injured family when thousands of twitter handles were spreading his name.
Twitter is an absolute cesspool.

And let's not forget that Facebook and Twitter just informed us last week that Russian bot farms spread ads to promote both sides of an event in Texas that had something to do with blacks/oppression. Their disinformation campaign got thousands of people to meet up in person and yell at each other at a fake event that they created.
