You must be a DEI hire since you don’t understand the twisted logic Musk is illuminating

I don’t see a lot of diversity on the Dallas Mavericks.

From one of the responses in that thread:

Not in the OP, but Cuban went on a multi-tweet rant. It included the statement in quotes below:

quote:

James Higgins
@JamesEHiggins

Let me help you out,
@MarkCuban
:
«In this era where trust of businesses can be hard to come by, people tend to connect more easily to people who are like them. »
This was the argument for race-based policies when "DEI" went by its original name: segregation.

No, what he was saying is that diversity solely for the sake of claiming to hold some sort of moral high ground or that diversity itself inherently creates better products/services/workplace/etc, then Cuban should prove it by going as diverse as possible with his own product.

Yes, your response certainly was.

Yes but there are few fields where only your brain is at use. BTW, there are/ have been some really brainy top athletes. A lot of QBs are brilliant people and so are a lot of coaches but how many great coaches never played the sport?

It's interesting how everyone can agree how DEI would ruin sports - forcing teams to abide by quotas would ruin the quality of the product. However, that same logic doesn't apply to any other field (medicine, engineering, etc.)

Factually incorrect

For example
If an engineer is needed, odds are a female engineer would be worse than a male

Why? Because there are 9 times as many male vs female engineers. So if you are looking for the best engineers you are 9 times more likely to find them as male

There are also 20 times more white engineers as black so the same would apply

Mark Cuban

Cuban is surprisingly dimwitted considering how he made his money. It's nowhere near the first time he's manifested this either.

Dude Cuban made his initial fortune by selling a website to yahoo for ridiculous money and Yahoo then shut it down shortly thereafter. There was little skill or genius here and a lot of luck. Also a big mouth to keep him in the spotlight.

If you are in the right time at the right place to make your first fortune, the other fortunes are easy. You pay a couple guys to bust heads and write a book, voila double your money. Or you just turn it over to Goldman Sachs and watch it grow.

Right… so the equivalent would be that the person with the better brain as it relates to that particular job should get it. DEI says… not so fast… even though the black lady may be less intelligent, less experienced, less qualified, she should still get the job because racism

We’re saying if she is most qualified, she should absolutely get the job, if she’s not, then she shouldn’t

Cuban is proof it's better to be lucky than good. He's the model for Russ Hanneman on Silicon Valley.

Exactly… and most people don’t realize that. Cuban isn’t some business guru or genius like most of the general public are told to believe. He essentially got lucky and won a multi-billion dollar lottery.

I would love for a surgeon looking for your brain to be an equity hire.
