This man ran G.P. Into the ground and they are laying off 600 workers, but he's getting a cushy local job on Sharon Weston Broome's staff because they are pals!

BATON ROUGE - East Baton Rouge Parish President Sharon Weston Broome has appointed a former Georgia-Pacific employee as the Assistant Chief Administrative Officer over all City-Parish public works departments. According to a news release, Kelvin J. Hill's appointment is effective Monday. "The addition of Mr. Hill to my administration bolsters our ability to deliver high-quality services to the citizens of East Baton Rouge Parish,” said Broome. “He brings a wealth of experience to our public works departments, which are the backbone of City-Parish government.” Hill served as the Vice President of Operations at Georgia-Pacific and has more than 20 years of operations and management experience.

G.P. makes lots of products and Koch has a diversified portfolio of companies he owns.

My guess is you haven't seen the price.
Ask Koch about the cheap refineries they bought years ago when cracks were shite.

Let me ask because I am not familiar with how GP ran, but is he really responsible? As opposed to general market conditions? That is, are there specific decisions or actions by him you can point to?
To clarify I am not saying you are wrong; I am just saying I want to know more.

My dad worked for GP in Alabama. They laid off a lot of people there over the years as well. My dad took an early retirement package.
This restructuring seems like it may have come from a paygrade a bit higher than your dude in the OP.

Yes. The one I'm currently working at and know personally much more about than you or this article.

The market was indeed a factor, but only a part.
His hiring processes, his appointment of bad managers and his overall lack of people skills did more to doom this company than anything.
He was tabbed with the Name Kevin Downhill within 3 months of his hire.

My entire HOA is on full tilt this morning because the garbage wasn't picked up yesterday per schedule. It's January 30. It's the second or third time this year.
My God. SWB. When is your term over?

you should be happy. Now he will help run the city into the ground and make Sharon look bad, though the sheep won't know or care.

I said the other day that I am glad I moved out of Louisiana, and I was told I was being an arse and that the people who care about Louisiana will change it for the better.
Nope. You will always have a shitty state when crap like this continues to occur.
