Folks are about to find out how clean “clean energy” really is.

Explain why this is a problem? It would be chemically analogous to striping sodium from chlorine.

I would be concerned about the huge evaporation pools they will have to construct. It can’t be good for the surrounding area and the wildlife.

Meh, if lithium salt deposits are anything like sodium chloride salt deposits (and chemically they are analogous) there will be some surface disruption.

From a surface footprint you can expect something like this:

Standard Lithium in Arkansas has been working on the direct extraction of lithium from brine for some time now. They take tail brine from a bromine extraction plant and directly extract the lithium. The water is returned to the brine aquafer much cleaner than it was.

There is an extremely long 800 page thread on the Money Talk forum here. Has every detail about the process designed to replace strip mining. The forum at one point owned over 1,000,000 shares. Some of the very early investors got in at $0.24 a share and took profit at over $12. a share. It's now in the $4.5 range. There are some details about the XOM move relative to SLI and other players involved.

Yeah that’s one of the countries largest brine reserves. Albemarle operates a large bromine plant there. I don’t think this will be traditional strip mining. It’ll actually be a real good thing for the area.

It's from brine pumped out of old abandoned oil wells. It has a high lithium content in the brine. They will pump out the water, remove the lithium, then pump the water back down in another location. So no big pit mine like you're thinking. Oil field baws fitna eat!

Cool

The Democrats have imported a few million brown miners for it

It's sound like there are lithium salt deposits and Exxon plans to mine the lithium by dissolving it in water and bringing it to the surface, extract the lithium then replace the void with water and the other salts left over.

No.. its in the Salt water...

Does China or Bill Gates own that land. If not I see another Shell Company in Hunter and Joe's future.

Albemarle and Lanxess (who Standard Lithium is working with) are already pumping brine for bromine extraction. Exxon will probably have to drill new wells.

They will have their own wells as they all have different leases.

There are 2 companies that operate 5 plants that pull brine from the formation, extract bromine and then pump the brine back in the formation. They have been doing this since the late 50’s.

Oil field brine? If so, look for discoveries just south of the border.
