We are indeed in crazy times. Remember when you had to buy something to be customer? Not anymore.
"On Saturday, the company told its employees in a letter that “any person who enters our spaces, including patios, cafes and restrooms, regardless of whether they make a purchase, is considered a customer.”

I got no problem with that. If they want to view everyone as a customer or potential customer, that's okay with me.

Yeah, if I was a business owner, I’d treat each person who walked through my door as a customer.
But to each his own.
But to each his own.

As long as they are loitering some of these homeless people might want to apply for a job as a barista.
Starbucks has a horrible turnover. The 'help wanted' sign has been up for years.
The average employee tenure at our place is about 6 months.

Businesses already do this. There's just a point where you become a loiterer instead of a customer

Private business, they can do whatever they want.
When the unwashed hobos start squatting there and running off business, they will change the policy or die on the PC vine.

You sound triggered. Possibly even melting.
Sad.
Sad.

Hell - that's the solution to Mardi Gras - just make every business in the French Quarter and along the parade routes Starbucks and free bathrooms for all.
Boom. I love it when a plan comes together.

That's always been there policy.
In college I worked in a Starbucks Cafe and customers would complain that homeless when come off the street to get out of the cold and were loitering and we were told Starbucks didn't have a loitering policy as most people would order one coffee and grab a book and sit there all day and read.

They may be on to something...perhaps this concept of "customers" could eventually be incorporated into a successful business model.

I am a business owner and this is my policy. I may shitpost on here but never at work. I want the last dime I can get out of a liberal.
Why would I alienate 50% of my market by using my name to post something on facebook...
However if a homeless person comes in my store and unrolls a sleeping bag I will ask them to leave.

Invite him to Starbucks.
Problem solved.

Wait till the homeless start making camp inside and chasing out real customers

So anyone who enters the place in order to rob it is now a customer? I wonder if you could use "the customer is always right" line after you ask them for all the money in the register?
