i certainly hope THAT investigation doesn't take too long
holy fricking shite
quote:
The Louisiana State Police troopers under investigation for taking a lavish detour to Las Vegas last year on their way to a conference in California apparently deleted every text message they sent or received during the 11-day road trip, but the agency has not determined whether they did so intentionally.

quote:
The troopers who visited Las Vegas aren't the only ones who didn't save any messages from during last year's conference of the International Association of Chiefs of Police. Edmonson and his second-in-command at the time, Charles Dupuy, also told the State Police they didn't have any texts from that time.
holy fricking shite
quote:
One senior law enforcement official told The Advocate the troopers had sent photographs of the road trip to their colleagues, rejecting the suggestion that the group had not sent or received any text messages during the junket.
quote:
The newspaper's request stemmed from the Las Vegas "side trip," as it became known, an excursion that involved four troopers driving Dupuy's state SUV to the International Association of Chiefs of Police conference in San Diego. The four were Maj. Derrell Williams, who was then the head of the State Police Internal Affairs Division; Lt. Rodney Hyatt; Senior Trooper Thurman Miller; and Trooper Alexandr Nezgodinsky.

I don't know anything about this whole deal, but I know I don't keep text messages in my phone from that long ago. I would have to have given the same answer.

I'm going to guess that their phones are state issued and thus FOIA laws apply.
Obviously these guys learned from Hillary and co.

Sad to see that Edmonson was dirty. I always thought very highly of him and thought he was the gold standard for the executive of a law enforcement agency. Guess my boy Sheriff Jeff Wiley will keep that title.
I wonder if JBE is connected to this in any way whatsoever. There has to be a reason why he dropped him like a hot potato so fast.

they're all "dirty" like this. they're just abusing the "company credit card"...except that CC is funded by forcibly taken from private citizens. so when this kind of excessive flaunting of their waste sees the public eye, the public will react more often than not. they ALL do it, though
because this is indefensible and politically terrible

His golden parachute retirement package AND shilling for JBE didn't change your mind?

It's not just vegas story. There is a lot of smoke around those illegal campaign contributions and that alleged endorsement from the state troopers association that was the first ever in its history and it happened without consulting the Troopers.
JBE used Edmonson like a dirty whore who wanted job security that Vitter wouldn't promise him and then dropped him when it got too hot.

Those are what immediately tipped me off that something was wrong with him and put me on track to my present day opinion of him.

LASP Vegas Trip Gets Worse: They deleted texts by SlowFlowPro
Do I have to be the one to say, "What happens in Vegas..."?
Posted on 4/17/17 at 1:18 pm to SlowFlowPro
What struck me about this is that the LSP can easily recover your deleted texts if they were investigating you or me. Investigating themselves, "well the texts have been deleted. Too bad."
Posted on 4/17/17 at 1:18 pm to GrantTheFan
this will be one of those examples of 'the cover up is worse than the crime' i reckon
Posted on 4/17/17 at 1:22 pm to SlowFlowPro
Yea. That's not good. The Public Records Act should have prevented them from doing this to the extent it was related to "official business."
With that said, my phone is set to auto-delete text messages after 30 days.

I just don't understand what more anyone is looking to "get" out of this story. I mean it toppled the Chief.

I dont care what they did/texted really.
Just find out how much money they wasted and charge them with whatever theft in that amount

This. Nothing wrong with the trip unless it wasn't budgeted/approved expenses.
Posted on 4/17/17 at 1:34 pm to FalseProphet
You might delete them from the phone but the phone company still has them.
Posted on 4/17/17 at 1:35 pm to Y.A. Tittle
well if cops did delete texts they knew would be used in this investigation, they should, at the least, be barred from working as LEO in LA. the behavior may be criminal, too and we can't just ignore if cops are blatantly breaking laws
