I've only lived in the Boot so don't have a huge sample size outside of La. Why are turn signals such a kryptonite to about 60-70% of Baton Rouge/New Orleans drivers? Is it low IQ, laziness, lack of situational awareness, or is it to possibly cause a fender bender and get paid? I honestly don't understand how a simple blinker stem on one's steering column is such a task and is the most courtesy thing you can do for fellow drivers.

I have found that Dems are the primary violators in the lack of use of a turn signal... I have a sneaking suspicion it is Dem and racial...

Now, your thread is political...

Traffic Flow is normally a route cause of this. When traffic is bad, people tend to have an increased sense of urgency to get from A to B, thus neglecting the impulse to notify others because the feeble mind thinks it takes additional time to flip a lever.

Hard to manage blinkers and play with your fricking phone at the same time. Fo’ Sho’!

Better chance for a rear end collision and free money from a lawsuit.

It was a major problem even before cell phones. It almost seems to be 2nd and 3rd generation passed down, like stupid begets stupider.

Just to be clear...are you talking about for actual turns and/or lane changes?

One key thing is the lack of enforcement of it. And your point about causing an accident pays is probably helpful too. Especially in LA and how ambulance chasers run that state.

I heard of a town recently that dropped their speeding buffer from 10 to 6mph over to help with revenue.

I travel all over for work...it's everywhere...I'd like the power to revoke licenses on the spot! The blinker is just a minor issue...four way stops/roundabouts/right of way at red lights.

Really couldn't care less about changing lanes...hell both Pubs and Dims do this. I'm referring to every other courtesy situation where a blinker comes into play and also in bang bang situations where a turn signal plays a major safety role. For example, think of 2 neighborhoods separated by a busy road and both neighbors are trying to take a left with a line of cars behind each neighbor. Now picture the cluster frick that could ensue if one doesn't have their blinker on. Actually that's just a somewhat mild hypothetical of even more serious instances.

Yeah, that's a right of way issue and is huge. I've had people flip me off because they think I cut them off...we met at a red light...I was going straight and they were turning.

Yo, if I put on my blinker to change lanes you will speed up and not let me get over.

Using a turn signal makes it easier on everyone.

It's selfishness, just worried about where they need to go with no care of those around them.

I thought it could be in other states as well but really have not traveled outside of La. in 5 years. All these new AI rating apps like Root Insurance have thousands of risk points, but conveniently don't have timely use of blinkers as a control point. Couple that with Louisiana's comparative negligence laws and soft tissue claims and of course the G guarantee and his dog Penny.

And there it is. Idiots are assholes, and if you let them know your intentions they will hurt themselves to deny you.
