0.00000143% is your chance of being the victim of a mass shooting, according to numbers from victims of shootings and the population.

That number is only marginally higher than the % likelihood you are to develop autism from vaccines.

Why do people own a bunch of shoes? There's no need.

People enjoy things and buy what they want.

You don't have to have a need for stuff

The point is, it's easy to obtain and it's illegal. The cops would come for what? Me standing in my driveway? By the time they show up, I could go inside, smoke, snack, sleep.

Because he wants to. That's all the justification he needs.

You seem to be the typical person who thinks you need justification to do something. In other words, the government "permits" us to do things.

The correct way to look at it is that the government needs justification to enact a law restricting something.

The burden is not on him to justify why he "needs" a gazillion magazines. The burden is on you (or the government) to justify why he should be restricted.

But we digress.

I've seen some proposals in here.

Among the ones proposed, only two seem to honestly be remotely related to the incident for which we are standing on bodies.

1. Banning bump stocks or other trigger modifications that allow for rapid fire

2. Banning "high capacity" magazines. One person has defined this as 10.

I'm kinda on board with #1. #2 honestly seems kinda silly.

Not it's not. I'm not pretending that banning high capacity magazines will keep someone from illegally obtaining one and killing a bunch of people
I was referring to your stat on likelihood of use as defense.

Why do you need "dozens" of magazines for 5 rifles?

I'll bite

Because sometimes they can be a pain to load individually. If my friends and I are going to do some target shooting at his farm, then it's easier to load a bunch before we start, rather than shoot. Stop. Reload. Shoot. Stop. Reload. Etc

Edit to add: Also because I can

Why? Why is one dozen not enough?

A "friend" might have a 55 acre pasture that they put corn in the middle of. They could plant a strip of Egyptian wheat from the road to an elevated platform (built from scaffolding). Then they could enter and exit without alerting the feral hogs who happen to be happily munching on the corn. Then 3-4 guys could open fire, each with 30 round magazines and "could" kill 29 or so of those creatures.

I imagine it might have happened. Maybe this past weekend...

I'm not in to evaluating the "need" someone else has for engaging in an act of freedom.

That's weird.

No. It's worse than that.

He's the type person who thinks that you need to have a justification satisfactory to someone other than YOU!

That's a thin limb you are on. I have ears!

Do we have definitive answers on what guns were actually used? And have we been told every weapon he had up there? Did he have actual full auto? Have anything belt fed?

It would take a LOT more training and proficiency to shoot a standard AR style with true "only your finger" semi auto. You'd have to switch fingers after a couple hundred. Then switch hands.

Pics showed him with a glove on his left hand in crime photo. That was his glove right? Not a fancy glove to preserve evidence and GSR?

I would like a nuclear weapon.

Where can I purchase one?

Yea, but you didn't NEED to do that. You should have just got 9-12 guys with 10 round mags because more than that is just absurd and you should have to conform to rules that people that don't use firearms feel are appropriate.

Honest question for military guys or maybe one of you Baws with cash to burn. How many rounds could you put through an AR-15 or any of the weapons mentioned here before you worry about your barrel? No smartass agenda or "gotcha" honestly asking.

Not arguing his right. I'm just curious to the motivation.

quote:

Most things that can potentially be harmful to the public, the gov't does permit the person to do it based on need. There's a reason it's illegal for a 10 year old to drive.

I agree and in the case of high capacity magazines I think that threshold has been reached.

We agree again. We just don't agree that the justification is there. We will see if the gov't does.

Please provide your legitimate and discriminant self-defense uses for a nuclear weapon. I bet I can do that for magazines and weapons you want to ban that I do not agree with. I'm curious if you can do the same for your straw man.

No that I have seen and from the pictures I saw I also haven't seen a slidefire stock. You would need to look much closer to see if they were modified to shoot full auto.

How much do you actually know about firearms? From your comments it doesn't seem you know much.
