The way to primary Trump is to run to his right and challenge him on failures to keep his promises or just not being good enough at it, not running to his left moaning and crying about what a mean bully he is

If a republican can beat Trump in a primary, I would put my money on that person getting elected. The Democrats are too unfocused right now, with no clear leadership. A rational republican could win in this climate.

Weld is a RINO because he is a libertarian.
We need more republicans that think like libertarians.

I'm not sure anyone could outflank Trump on either end of the spectrum. Trump will change his position daily, going right, then left, then right again. A republican would be better running as a sane conservative, to keep things on generally the right course but without the batshit insanity. That message could win in the general for sure.
