Just to be clear, there's no evidence provided yet for your assertion in the OP that it looks like Iran was involved in the FlyDubai attack, right?

Also, you were lying when you said this...right? Only one person was arrested that day. You know this, right? [That person was ALSO released from custody.]

quote:

The UK arrested several men yesterday in connection with the RAR Fairford incident all with ties to Iran. The people that were originally arrested were part of a dry run operation and several of them were just innocent dupes which is why they were released.

You are claiming the UK PM really believes that these men were part of an Iranian terror plot, BUT the UK government released these evil terrorists from custody? IF THEY HAD PROOF OF THAT, THEY WOULD HAVE CHARGED THEM AND KEPT THEM IN CUSTODY.

As for the Prime Minister's naked assertion, it's not proof of anything. It's as slimy a dodge as Baby Bush's assertion that there was proof of Iraq having weapons of mass destruction and that Colin Powell would show the evidence...which did NOT show any proof.
Trump was right in calling out that charade. I suspect the Home Secretary's "proof" will be even less convincing than was Powell's.

I didn't say Iran wasn't involved in RAF Fairford. I said that there was no proof of that and the circumstantial evidence (release of all the suspects) suggested the opposite. It will be interesting to see what proof the Home Secretary offers.

One of the reasons I enthusiastically supported Trump was his unequivocal recognition that "intelligence" can't always be trusted. It's surprising how quickly people on the Board forget that:

You posted the UK PM asserting Iranian involvement without any proof offered from the PM. He explicitly said that the Home Secretary would provide the proof. She hasn't yet. This should be entertaining.

Have you found any proof yet?

Here was ChatGPT's summary of the situation, FWIW:

#######
As of October 12, 2026, I have not found a public disclosure of specific evidence by UK Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood demonstrating Iranian involvement in the RAF Fairford incident. The government has made a much stronger attribution today, but the underlying evidence has not been made public in the reporting I found.
Here is what has emerged today, and what remains unsubstantiated publicly.

1. What the government announced today
British Prime Minister Andy Burnham told Parliament on October 12:
“I can confirm our assessment that it is highly likely to have been co-ordinated in Iran, almost certainly directed by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard.”
He said the government would take further action against Iranian networks and funding. ?
Reuters
However, that statement describes the government's intelligence assessment, not the evidence supporting it.
According to The Guardian, a further update from Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood was expected. I have not located a published account of her presenting specific evidence connecting Iran to the suspects. ?

2. What evidence has actually been made public?
Here is what has been disclosed about the investigation.
Item
What is publicly known
Does it establish Iranian direction?
Seven arrests
Seven men have been arrested in connection with the investigation.
No, not by itself.
Dual Iranian-British nationality
One suspect is a dual UK-Iranian citizen.
No. Nationality alone does not establish involvement by a foreign government.
Three suspicious vehicles
Police investigated three vans near the base.
Not by itself.
Petrol recovered
Police reported finding petrol in the vehicles.
No.
Explosives
Police said no improvised explosive devices were found in the vans.
No.
Intelligence assessment
The prime minister now says the incident was highly likely coordinated in Iran and almost certainly directed by the IRGC.
This is an official attribution, but the underlying intelligence has not been publicly disclosed.

3. What about the Iranian officials sanctioned today?
Foreign Secretary Ed Miliband announced sanctions against two Iranian nationals:
Ruhollah Bazghandi, described by the UK government as a senior IRGC counterintelligence figure.
Shahram Ali Reza Tamarzadeh Jakki, described as a facilitator of the Zindashti criminal network.
The measures include asset freezes and travel restrictions. The government says the individuals were involved in hostile activity on behalf of Iran. ?
ITVX
But an important distinction remains: the public announcement does not set out specific evidence showing that either man directed the alleged Fairford operation or communicated with any of the seven suspects.
That is a significant gap between the government's broader allegations about Iranian state activity and publicly verifiable evidence concerning this particular incident.

4. What evidence would help establish the connection?
To assess the government's attribution properly, I would look for disclosure of:
Communications: Messages, calls or other communications linking suspects to Iranian intelligence or IRGC personnel.
Financial records: Payments or transfers connecting the suspects to Iranian state-linked individuals or organisations.
Operational instructions: Evidence that someone in Iran directed surveillance, sabotage or an attack.
Surveillance evidence: Photographs, reconnaissance records or other evidence demonstrating what the suspects were doing near the base.
Intelligence corroboration: An explanation of whether the assessment rests on intercepted communications, human intelligence, digital evidence or information shared by allied governments.
The government may possess classified evidence in one or more of these categories. Its failure to publish that evidence does not establish that it lacks it.

My assessment of the public record
As of today, the British government has made a clear and increasingly confident allegation of Iranian state involvement. But the public information I found does not allow an independent reader to determine precisely what evidence supports that conclusion.

I would distinguish three propositions:
The incident occurred and arrests were made: established.
The British government assesses that Iran and the IRGC were responsible: established as an official government position.
Publicly disclosed evidence proves that Iran directed these particular suspects: I have not found such evidence.

The key outstanding question is whether Mahmood's promised update supplies actual evidentiary details or merely repeats the government's intelligence assessment. I could not verify that she had publicly supplied those details by the time of this search.

Well that was funny. ZERO evidence was introduced:

quote:

We recognize the United Kingdom’s attribution of Iran’s involvement in the incident at RAF Fairford on 27 September. The UK has also concluded this event demonstrates the IRGC’s continued willingness to project hostile activity beyond its borders through covert networks and proxy actors.
