I’m reading an essay written by Milton Friedman. He argues that the government has an interest in ensuring its population has access to a liberal arts education, as that creates a knowledgeable citizenry. He argues AGAINST the government providing or supporting any sort of vocational or job training.
It’s really interesting watching people who claim to be disciples of his ideology advocate for everything he was against.

I was very clearly talking about what I believe rights are, not what rights legally are in the US

ANY other loan on earth looks at money borrowed vs risk of payback. Student loans have zero collateral. Only caveat is it can’t be discharged by bankruptcy
Unlimited guaranteed borrowing vs zero chance of payback is one of the major reasons tuition had increased much faster then inflation and gdp.

Just universally cut federal loans for all degrees. It’s not up to the government to decide what degrees are worthwhile

How so, if they are footing the bill?
If my sister tells my nephew she's not going to pay for him to take an arts major, when she's footing the bill, can she not?
