Was pretty diverse. Men, Elves, dwarves, orcs, you could pretend Frodo was gay (might have been).

That's the whole point.

Then they'll be able to shite on the prior ones because they did not meet the new standards.

Cancel culture codified.

Let's shoot a movie about the 80 years war, and have whoopi Goldberg play Elizabeth I.

Should cast Denzel Washington as Oskar Schindler

Good catch - and was a good virtue signaling moment as well.

Would have been a lot better with LBGTQ and/or black actors.

Forest Gump had a Black Panther Party.

It would be eligible.

According the failing New York Times, they will do "spot checks" of sets to ensure compliance.

Technically, some of the English who tried to trick Wallace into meeting with them ended up a crispy black. Don't know if this clears the Academy's threshold, they eventually identified as black.

How does a movie like "The King's Speech" now qualify?

If you take this particular movie, the only way for it to qualify would be to inject some contrived scenes where you force some storyline from the British colonies and how they related to the storyarc that didn't actually occur in real life. That contrived storyline would then harm the overall quality of the movie.

It's so dumb.

DirectorAnon was spot on, last month on /pol/.

There is a coordinated effort to force this horse shite down the throats of average Americans.

Sometimes the role doesn’t call for a black or Latino or gay person. Putting a gay or black person in Lord of the Rings wouldn’t make any sense to the overall plot in the settings of the story. But liberals love to play the angle “There’s no blacks in it, it’s a racist movie”. Right... so if I don’t include xyz, I must be anti xyz? I love chocolate but I don’t want it on my steak. An ingredient is to a recipe as a role is to a movie.

And good writings/acting will move the audience in a universal way. If you only feel compassion for a character because he/she is the sane race as you, it says a lot about you as a human being.

There were 2 white wizards. The first was Christopher Lee, definitely not gay. The second was Ian McKellen, definitely gay.

So this means you can't have any more films with principal black cast without token white representation?

Will the next Black Panther be white?

Black members of the Yakuza in a Hong Kong action flick?

Does EVERYTHING get Hamilton'ed, going forward?

Where does it end?
