This is sadder than when they used to think everything was a Hatch act violation.

You clearly didn't read the filing. Cohen paid off Stormy, then was reimbursed and paid a few hundred thousand extra by the company Trump personally controls.

Still not illegal. He has 10 billion reasons to keep his affairs quiet. You desperately wanting his campaign to be one of them isnt enough for the American justice system.

That is so rich. I mean unless you have him on tape saying that you would have to be the best lawyer of all time to try and prove this in court.

Trump's a buffoon.

And I still don't give 2 shits that he paid off his side pieces. Why should that bother me?

If the Russian angle crashed and burned, and this is what is left, Trump wins (in the public eye).

LOL - if it isn't illegal then why did Cohen plead guilty? You normally don't do that unless you ... did something illegal.

Note that according to the filing, he committed his crimes at the direction of Donald Trump himself. That makes him involved in the instigation and commission of a crime.

BTW, I'm not a progressive, I think they're just as nuts as Trumpies are but in a different direction. Y'all all sure do like to avoid dealing with facts though.

And the left wants sitting lawmakers who used the taxpayer funded sex slush fund to pay off women to impeach him over this

And there is a tape where Trump says to keep in on the up and up! Sorry, but an audio tape will Trump a shady lawyer that was convicted for lying any day of the week and twice on Friday.

News flash for you - in case you hadn't heard the Democrats just regained control of the House. If the House votes to impeach, it'll be the new members who do it and haven't been using that fund, at least not yet.

They aren't all new. And so what IF they vote to impeach him - the Senate has to convict. This is all a headlines move. No bite.

As I've already pointed out, the filing I linked to notes the prosecutors have much more than just Cohen's say so.

That's why you should read and understand the filing, it will help keep you from embarrassing yourself with irrelevant "points" you think you are making.

Oh, I know that. That's one reason why I posted that I don't think Trump gets impeached but that it might well impact his re-election chances.

Please try and keep up with the class.

No it isn’t. What do you think the purpose of an NDA is?

That's an entirely separate issue that I haven't touched on in this thread (although for some reason posters thought I did). There are hints here and there that prosecutors are looking into that pretty hard but not much has been reported or filed other than rumors.

At any rate it isn't buried, just not in the news much lately.

Did Cohen plead guilty to a election finance violation?

Pretty naive statement. You want this sooooo badly. Unfortunately you just don’t understand how it works.

This won't affect Trump's support or re-election chances one iota, so you can stop telling yourself that right now. This entire thing is nothing new, and the only aspect of it that would potentially turn away his base (cheating on his then-wife) is old news and has had no effect.

Congratulations to the Mueller gang and the Dems for setting out to find Russian collusion and election interference, only to come back with this kind of shite that only serves to galvanize and divide the sides further.

Does anybody actually feel like the country is a better place today because Cohen caught some charges? Does anybody actually think this is a success for Mueller or well worth the time and money spent? It was a complete waste that did nothing to help anything and only set us back along the way.

I would have these same feelings if Obama was in Trump's position and his former lawyer was facing what Cohen is. There's nothing to celebrate when literally nothing positive comes out of all this and nothing was gained.

But congrats Mueller, the mean streets are safer tonight because of you.

Impeachment for sexual infidelity certainly has historical precedent (think public perspective, not technicality of lying to Congress or using misusing campaign funds) , but considering that historical episode and how its viewed currently, are we really sure that's a big blow to his reelection chances?

Russian collusion was the goal. This is...meh.

Sigh. Again - the fact that Cohen pled guilty means he committed a crime. You might as well claim the Sun rises in the southeast, you'd still be wrong. By definition, Cohen is guilty of a crime and has admitted it.

And the filing states that Cohen committed this crime at Donald Trump's behest. Trump hasn't been charged yet but it certainly implicates him.
