The giant data center in Richland is only producing 10 full time jobs.

This can’t be true

The ads on instagram say that the tour bus operator in Richland parish had to triple his workforce and the fancy latte place is opening 2 new locations

The largest AI data centers use about as much water as a standard golf course

It was 500 before the announced expansion of the project now I think it is 900, but that is 900 jobs for a nearly $8 billion sales tax exemption and 2500 acres.

And as data center jobs automate, and they will, there are no requirements to maintain jobs to keep the 20 year sales tax exemption. They just have to have 50 jobs before 2029.

Meta expects to create 1,000 permanent operational roles when fully built out.

Louisiana Economic Development (LED) estimates it will support an additional 1,900 indirect positions in the regional economy.

Where are you guys getting your information from?

And Biden said his economy was on fire. Did you believe him?

What kinds of permanent jobs do you anticipate a computer warehouse creating? Will a chick-fil-a open to feed the computers?

On the water end, I think the Kelce Plan holds promise. But in terms of employment. These things will be highly automated, so the promise of a bonanza of direct permanent jobs is being very much oversold. The bulk will probably entail physical plant stuff more than anything else. The high tech will be limited. There was a data center built in Monahans, TX that probably only has 85 -90 full time employees and the promise was that there would be just north of 350.

They are wanting to do a 4500 acre solar farm in Calcasieu Parish. That bothers me.

And what are they going to when a Hurricane destroys that 4500 acre solar farm ? Cut and run leaving a blight on the landscape?
