This caravan is just like the central American caravan of migrants immigrants that arrived in Tijuana in May 2018.
Trump didn't say anything about the May caravan; didn't call them invaders; didn't send the military to the border to intercept it. Nothing.
It didn't get Trump's attention because the midterm elections were not 2 weeks away in May.

You could be right. Or it could be that the first one went without much consequence, so it emboldened them to do it again. Trump is putting in consequences this time.

The May caravan didn't skirt the system. The ones who made it to the border presented at the border and applied for amnesty and were processed.
No one complained about the caravan at the time. Now suddenly it's a huge campaign issue.
