Yes. I agree we have a system like that. And unfortunately it does require for you to vote for 2nd best if your top choice has no prayer to win, and the alternative to #2 is a f’n whack job Leftist.

It sucks, but it’s what we have and it ain’t changing anytime soon. So you either throw a tantrum and waste your vote, or you vote to keep damage to a minimum and try to figure out how to make the Republican Party conservative.

In my experience many of them indeed seem to be on the spectrum.

I find this true of people who associate with the LP.

However, most of us are libertarian leaning conservatives. Its a bit different animal.

Yep, in addition to voter apathy, there's a sizeable independent/third party contingency which frankly, changes elections.

There's more independent voters than Republicans, I believe.

That cannot happen when people continue to support the party despite their shift on the spectrum. Its pretty simple, the Democrats figured out what issues to push to create a majority, Republicans cannot push aside potential allies, which is exactly what has been happening. They're going to be forced to sell a message at some point that isn't "we're not the other guy."

The OP is about one particular race that will probably have no small impact on how the next two years goes for our country, to say nothing of SCOTUS. I don't live in Georgia but under our current situation I would happily vote for Walker.

That doesn't mean I would vote for any R no matter what. I came very, very close to not voting for president in 2008. Had I not lived in Florida I wouldn't have.

Why should I want Congress or anyone in Washington DC to "get something accomplished"? 98% of what our government gets accomplished is a taxpayer ripoff or blatantly unconstitutional.

Yeah, but the GOP only ever gave lip service to the deficit anyways.

I think you’re woefully unrealistic.

By the time you outlast the Republican Party, starve it to the point is surrenders, you’ll have lost the country completely. The last 30 months should have convinced you of this.

We have a better shot (not easy, but better) at bringing the Republican Party to reflect conservative principles than we do burning the country down and making something of the carcass.

What do you mean here - what are some examples?

If keeping faux conservatives from office happens, I call that winning. They're not voting the way you want when they do get in office

I'm tired of supporting them. You just keep supporting that status quo, regardless of effectiveness.

But it doesn’t. It accomplishes nothing. You just become a random useless statistic as part of the 1-3% of voters who chose not to actually participate in the election. You may as well write in Santa Claus.

It’s an unserious position to hold. You aren’t doing anything but making yourself feel better.

Why do you keep saying that? No one cares, and no one is telling you to.

There is another Republican in the damn election. And no Libertarians.

So you’re voting for Chesbro?

I picture this coming out of the mouth of a Bill Kristol wannabe at a cocktail party in DC, whose only desires in life are to spy on Americans and foment war on every continent.

So you’d vote for someone that has no chance of winning, and be the single vote a weak Republican needed to beat a Dem that goes onto the Senate and casts the deciding vote to pack the Supreme Court, federalize national elections, erase our borders and raise taxes across the board by 20% in order to pay reparations?

You think that’s winning?

I’m very far from a neocon.

I’m simply pragmatic and despise conservatives wasting votes on misguided principles.

This simply IS the system we have. Until it changes, yes, you need to hold your nose and votes for the lesser of two evils in most federal elections. To do anything else is to directly assist Democrats.

Based on what?

Sorry I want people to have the FREEDOM to do what they want so long as it doesnt affect me.

Sorry I don't want to pay taxes on useless wars, and unnecessary government spending

Sorry I don't like the government spying on me (again you conservatives allowed the patriot act)

You have yet to say how Libertarians are leftists. You know what even you believe that, at least we arent shills for big government. Thats the issue that conservatives have. They are

You also aren’t a participant in the electoral process or the government, so there’s that. People who vote third party where there is no viable third candidate are no different than people who don’t vote.
