If teacher sucks how does a non-business handle it? Or if an entire school sucks how does a non-business handle it?

You don't appear to have a problem with competition, you just think vouchers are bad based on Louisiana's execution of them. The fact that Yugo made a shitty car doesn't mean that all cars are shitty.

I guess in a system that cannot manage to purchase textbooks with a $9K/student/yr budget,
why buy textbooks when the principal can drive a Range Rover instead?

do you think Finland runs its schools like businesses?

I actually don’t know this. Most private schools don’t accept students with IEPs or disabilities unless the schools was developed specifically for that population. Unless you consider the Louisiana School for the Blind or the Louisiana School for the Deaf - those are both public schools.

This, exactly. This whole thread is about vouchers in Louisiana (the Louisiana Scholarship Program) which have been a colossal clusterfrick and failure. I can’t extrapolate that to say vouchers are harmful in every state, but Louisiana sure knows how to exploit its own system.

Is this really 12 pages of you complaining about parents being offered a choice only to end up here? Seriously?
This made me laugh. It’s a bit more nuanced than that, though.

Well there it is. Only IAW the post you're responding to, he's driving that RR in lieu of ADA abidance.

100%. Why do you ask?

Perhaps that's because you're fortunate enough not to have a child with a disability.

I'm not.

"Nuance" is often a synonym for "bullzhit".

It was a bandaid for redemptorist that probably finished the school off as the kids from Zachary/Central didn’t want to attend school with voucher kids.

The voucher kids had behavior issues and were way behind academically.

That being said, those kids were already gone to the new ISD anyway and they were not coming back. Dr Andereck probably bought those poor Redemptorist employees three years of salary by taking them in.

The truth is, our public system is broken and has to be changed.

They have the best or one of the best education systems globally.

both my kids have IEPs but not for profound impairments.

The voucher program is not about helping kids, its about destroying the private school system.

It’s about politicians and their friends getting paid and/or reducing their tax liabilities.

Absolutely not.

Were far below other developed nations and spend considerably more.

Yeah. You'd not want to go snarky there. Tough subject.
But I'm glad too, and it worked.

So when you say principals are driving Range Rovers instead of attending to ADA issues, I have a visceral response which I'll not put to words except to say those folks need to be shown the inside of a jail cell.

I wouldn’t have believed this if I didn’t see it with my own eyes. Repeatedly at different schools. The principal of the last school I taught at drove an Audi R8. That’s a $160,000 vehicle. And she’s single. She was making those payments on a principal’s salary.

the school before that, the principal drove a $100,000 Mercedes. And she’s married to a teacher so she was floating those payments herself. Meanwhile I was getting to school at 6:30 am so I could copy textbooks for my class.

I had to remove myself from that system.

I sure cant argue with you there.

A voucher system would have to have some boundaries to keep from having diploma mills.
