It is genetic and different races have whole different sets of attributes than each other.
People just don’t like to hear that these days. I think it was Watson that said that some ethnicities were more inclined in their own shared DNA to be more intelligent.

Nigerians are surprisingly intelligent and capable but yes for the most part you are correct

Yeah, but our southern neighbors aren’t sending their real gifted people. At least not in any meaningful numbers because they’re typically not going to break the law to enter this country.

quote:I'm still not entirely sure about the extent to which IQ is genetic vs. learned - I know it is weighted more to the former, but I honestly don't know the science around how much the latter can play into it.
Most in this range can only perform routine, explicitly laid out to them, step-by-step, hands-on work without supervision. They can perform these tasks well as long as there is no choice and their requirements are always clear.
That said, no matter the weighting, the quoted line is exactly why we should heavily crack down on illegal immigration and take the Canadian model of only allowing highly-educated for legal immigration.
If immigrants (from anywhere) don't speak the language, don't have skills, don't have education, and don't have the "intelligence" or whatever you want to call it to learn how to do the specialized labor of the American economy...there are soon to be no jobs here for them. They can't be productive members of society and taxpayers and give back their fair share because there is less and less opportunity to do so. And in natural irony to the Democratic party, that is just increased competition to the other disenfranchised groups they pretend to care about.
We already have too few Americans to do specialized jobs and have to import labor. I'm fine with that. I'm not fine with adding economic dependents, even moreso with increasing domestic welfare creep.
We should be far more proactive in informing the world that in the absence of education and skills, economic migrants are wasting their time with automation delivering the coup de grace. And in 2020 Trump should explicitly bludgeon the Democratic party for hurting the prospects of less-skilled or educated Americans.

IQ tests are a terrible measure of intelligence
And are often correlated directly with wealth. So you're saying poor countries have lower IQ test scores? Shocking.

This thread is full of morons. You won’t change their mind.
Having spent significant time in Colombia and the Southern United States ...
We are pretty much even. I mean let’s be honest, the SEC states aren’t some bastion of intelligence and class.
Mississippi, Alabama, Louisiana
Almost always interchangeably the lowest three ranked states in any meaningful category.
Trust me, people from Bogota overstaying their Visas is not why this country has gone to hell.

You’re right, that’s why states have GDPs at a rate with entire countries. But we’re the same on average intelligence.

Gee, I wonder why these three states and the south in general are lower in overall education rankings?

Never said they should get to stay here.
My problem with this thread is there are a million other more tangibly negative effects on our country resulting from illegal immigration than lowering IQ ...
Let’s be honest, half this country is already literally borderline retarded.
Making IQ / Race arguments isn’t going to make anyone on the other side see the light and demand tougher immigration policy. It makes them run in the opposite direction and it also makes the fringe right feel more emboldened and like they actually set the agenda.
If you want to win the war you have to know how to frame the discussion in a way that garners you more political power ...
Race + IQ arguments is not going to get us a wall folks.

What race though? Mexican race? Colombian race?
Race isn't a factor for most of us. We've allowed the leftists to make that claim.
It's not about race it's about unfettered illegal immigration and using that as a tool so that the prog filth can consolidate power which we can never allow.

Nobody said it would. Just pointing out the obvious here.

My point is when you even start framing the debate in this manner, or using this as a talking point, other people will use their imagination and fill in the blanks to try and calculate your motivations / intentions.
Not saying that’s a a good thing, you’re 100% correct in saying that the right has continually allowed leftists to get away with murder in how they frame our positions and with which language they use to detract from our policy stances.
I guess my question is, why are we even opening this door when there a million more salient points to be making to the American people about the harmful impact of illegal immigration?

I understand you. Fwiw, I've never used low iq to argue against illegal immigration.

Not a big reveal that the poorest and least developed countries have the lowest IQs

I’m pretty confused how he thinks that necessarily helps his argument in any way.

A few generations ago my fam was poor tobacco farmers from a low IQ state. Now, I know the difference between Ireland and North Ireland. Advantage: Me.

I was just looking at a list of SA countries ranked by danger to tourists the other day. Uruguay, Argentina, and Chile were at the top of the list (meaning they were the safest).
I don't think I'll ever set foot in SA and I couldn't care less about 90% of it, but Uruguay and Chile really don't sound half-bad.
Get some land in the Andes and hang out with camelids all day... sounds awesome to me.
