I served 24 years. The best and worst people I met were in the Army. We are all better off when people realize those who serve are just part of society like everyone else. The opportunists getting 100% for anxiety and sleep apnea are going to ruin it for everyone. Ironically the people that usually need help the most are the ones that don't seek it. Fobbits get 50% rating for anxiety and PTSD and dudes with purple hearts just finish out and go about their lives.

As far as base names - who cares. Both sides politicize it. Most of the time we just mock whatever slogan the CGs come up with and make the gate guards say. "Welcome to the Great Place." "Rock of the Marne!" "Strength and honor!"

Like bitch just swipe my ID and let me go about my business.

This is possible and something I highly object to but is VERY luck dependent. If the first psych check they send you to doesn’t rec you over 50% you’re never getting it

A lot of losers have completely figured out the system. Get prescribed meds, say you have trouble making friends or functioning in society at your VA eval, and boom 50 - 70 % disability,.

Add in shin splints, fibromalingria, and sleep apnea and you can make bank while being completely healthy.

I have never seen someone get above 50% for only having mental health. Do they do that?

Ah naw liberty isn’t a gay name. But it’s the home of one of it not our most famous war fighters both airborne and jsoc. Why change it?

Yep. The new system gives people either 30%, 50%, or 70% based on some stupid questions about if they can make friends or get along with family.

When I went to my VA physical the two people in front of me:

- 24 year old signal soldier with no deployments who asked for an escort because he said he didn't feel safe.

- 250lb female almost certainly being chaptered for being fat

They changed it for dumb reasons, but it's back to being Fort Bragg. I think some of the highway signage still says Fort Liberty, though.

Not sure when they changed it. I just went through in February. They kept asking me about if I had a lot of friends and got along with my family. Was like yep certainly do. My VSO said the new system combines most of the mental health claims into one category and you get 30, 50, or 70 depending on how it impacts your daily life. So the bums go in and say they can't make friends, get laid, or keep a job.

I feel like it is a fair that mental health only should cap at 50%

Then they can get whatever drugs they want mailed to them but they don’t get any real money. Not anywhere close to enough to live on. 50% is what like 1200$ a month?

I had occasion to drive past the entrance of Ft. Polk last week. On the way past the big sign on 171, it was blank. A few days later going home, the sign was updated to say Ft. Polk again. The control city mileage signs to the base were updated too.

Probably why this topic is resurfacing.

That's because the vast majority of the Veteran population isn't receiving disability payments. Of the 22 million Veterans in the country, about 9.5 million are enrolled in the VA and of that about 4 million receive disability payments. That said, with our wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, you can expect that number to rise because of the burn pits. Because of my exposure to the burn pits in Afghanistan I was diagnosed with Hashimoto's disease which forces me to take a shite ton of medications daily and will more than likely result in an earlier death than the normal person.

You get 1800/mo for life. WTF you mean you can't. You are literally doing it. That's upwards of a million dollars.

Now you tell me where the frick the recruiter said i would get a cool milly for signing up, because it didn't happen.
