The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation is investigating an officer-involved shooting in Senatobia that left a child dead and another person critically injured.

Authorities said Senatobia police and Tate County deputies responded Sunday to a shoplifting call at the Walmart on U.S. 51. Officers encountered two adults and a child attempting to leave in a vehicle.

MBI said the driver accelerated toward officers and nearly struck one, prompting an officer to fire. The vehicle fled and later arrived at a hospital, where the child was pronounced dead and another occupant was listed in critical condition.

Word is they stole a pack of diapers.

Cop shootings are sometimes handled differently. They often want you to know when a cop kills a black person.

What difference does it make what they stole if they tried to run over the cop?

I guess to point out the absurdity of all that.. over a pack of pampers, likely for a poor kid that doesn’t even need them anymore.

Proportionality and failure to predict consequences leads me to have my own guess over what these men looked like.

If indeed they stole some diapers and then tried to run over a cop to avoid being caught how do you deal with this ignorant mentality?

I'm at a total loss again. It's every day. Jasmin Crockett level ignorance on display here.

Enforce existing laws and sentencing guidelines.

I’d bet dollars to Huggies these fellas weren’t acting up for the first time.

Excessive leniency costs lives.
