Was that what prince used when he decided to go with no name?

That symbol's no good. They'll never go for "The University formerly known as Washington & Lee"

If anything, Robert E. Lee was the face of reconciliation after the Civil War, but these silly virtue signalers don't see this.
One of my favorite stories about Lee was during this time he was at Washington University. The story was told by a colleague (faculty or administrator of the university) after Lee had died. They were to meet for lunch and at the front gate and the colleague (who also served in the ANV) observed Lee appearing to console a man who was shaking Lee's hand vigorously and deferentially. Lee patted the man on the arm and was in the process of handing him something. Their transaction complete, Lee disengaged and the colleague was able to approach.
"Who was that gentleman, General?" Lee replied, "A soldier who has fallen on hard times. He came to me for help and I did what I could do for him." The colleague asked, "In what regiment did he serve?" Lee answered, "He was one of those who fought against us."
By reputation, that was the man in a nutshell.
But, definitely not perfect.

Many absolutely will

Faculty resoundingly votes to change the name of Washington and Lee
Since when is a university beholden to the faculty? Shouldn't this decision be made by alumni and donors?
We are silently watching socialist take over this country. Trump better fricking win.

I wasn’t proposing they use Prince’s symbol, but an ampersand, the symbol for “and”. That’s all that’s left of their name once Washington, Lee, University are all removed.

I like it. The fighting Ampersands.

Black Lives Matter University.

Since he physically is there, will they "remove" him?

Isn’t Lee buried there?

Or "And"
LOL. Reminds me of a Richard Pryor skit where he presented "And The Pips". The back-up singers did their routine without Gladys Knight.
And The Pips!

The faculty's vote doesn't change the name of the school. They are currently conducting a review, which will take a while. A decision to change the name will not be made quickly.

Robert E Lee is buried on the campus; what will happen with that?

Old South week long party still the best week of my life....singing Dixieland in confederate uniforms and all.
Screw anyone that disrespects General Robert E Lee.
