Derivative suits are big business for firms capable of handling them.

Look at the ambulance chasers advertising, a lawyer can sniff out a dollar bill further away than a stripper can.

I'm not a lawyer but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express once....

Sauces say the Judge wanted badly to say "Tree fiddy" to Trump but got his point across regardless .... /sarcasm

The lawyers who handled the derivative suit against Tesla for Elon's compensation were awarded $354M in legal fees for winning the suit.

So instead of paying him the compensation that TESLA agreed to in 2018 now, These geniuses get to pay a group of parasites $345M now, and whatever they agreed upon in '18 plus the factor of inflation in the not so distant future...

I don't see a scenario where both of these things happen.

If an appeals court overturns the judge's order, Elon gets his money from Tesla and these attorneys do not.

If an appeals court confirms the judge's order, Elon gets nothing and the Tesla attorneys get their attorney's fees.

Thank you for clarifying. So Elon could possibly have GIVEN his time effort and genius to TESLA for 5 years and the lawyers will get paid half billion dollars to insure he never does that again...

I own a couple shares of Tesla. How do I start going about getting this kind of payout?

The lawyers are the ones who got paid.

Also, their request for fees was $5.6B

you sir are full of it. Musk will use this misadventure to put before the Supreme Court the issue of irrational settlements and set up the rewrite of tort suits litigation to bring reason back in and balance the lawyer bite
